Job Description

INTRODUCTION:

The Product Manager - Insights Reporting for ABC Fitness will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our product offerings on the Ignite Insights platform and other key cross-platform data initiatives. This role requires familiarity with technologies such as SSRS, ETL, Power BI, and Power BI Paginated Reporting, and a basic understanding of cloud technology, including Azure, Oracle, and AWS, as our reporting platform scales. Additionally, the Product Manager should be comfortable performing basic queries for analytics using MS SQL and Oracle, as these are key technologies in our environment. An understanding of how APIs work is also beneficial, as this role will involve collaboration with internal teams managing systems of record. The Product Manager should also have a solid grasp of data residency requirements due to the global nature of our reporting needs.

This position offers a unique opportunity to interact with C-suite level CFOs, Senior Accounting Leaders, and other high-level stakeholders, providing exposure and growth opportunities rarely found in similar roles at other companies. This role is highly customer-facing, requiring close interaction with both external and internal stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into effective product solutions. The Product Manager will also work closely with our internal finance teams and take charge of driving the next generation of reporting, not only for our external customers but also for internal HQ initiatives. A solid understanding of compliance requirements such as SOX, PCI, HIPAA, and ISO are essential, as our reports need to meet these compliance requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with external stakeholders, CFOs, Senior Accounting Leaders, club and owners, to gather requirements, understand pain points, and ensure that our products meet their needs. Additionally, engage with internal finance teams to understand their reporting requirements and integrate them into the product strategy.

  • Product Strategy and Roadmap: Develop and maintain a product roadmap that aligns with business objectives and customer needs. Prioritize product features and enhancements based on stakeholder feedback, market trends, internal finance team requirements, compliance considerations, and global data residency needs.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, design, quality assurance, and finance teams to translate customer, internal, and compliance requirements into actionable product features. Ensure alignment between product development and both external customer and internal HQ goals.

  • Operational and HQ Reporting: Lead the integration of operational reporting needs into product offerings for external customers. Additionally, spearhead initiatives to develop advanced HQ reporting capabilities, ensuring that these tools meet organizational, technical, compliance, global data residency, and cloud scalability requirements.

  • Technology Proficiency: Utilize your knowledge of SSRS, ETL processes, Power BI, and Power BI Paginated Reporting, along with basic querying skills in MS SQL and Oracle, to guide the development and enhancement of our reporting tools. An understanding of how APIs work will be important for collaboration with internal systems of record.

  • Compliance, Data Residency, and Cloud Technology Awareness: Ensure that all reporting solutions adhere to relevant compliance standards, including SOX, PCI, HIPAA, ISO, data residency, and cloud technology considerations (Azure, Oracle, AWS). Collaborate with internal teams to maintain compliance across all reporting tools and practices.

  • User-Centric Design: Ensure that the products developed are intuitive and add real value to both external customers and internal users. Conduct regular feedback sessions with customers and internal teams to iterate and improve the product.

  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Partner with marketing and sales teams to develop go-to-market strategies for new product features and ensure successful product launches that address both external and internal needs.

  • Product Ownership: Take full ownership of the product lifecycle, from ideation through launch and post-launch optimization. Ensure that product developments are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives, addressing both customer and internal finance needs.

  • Customer and Internal Focus: Act as the voice of both the customer and internal finance teams within the company. Ensure that products are developed with a deep understanding of operational reporting, financial management, and HQ reporting needs, all within compliance, data residency, and cloud technology standards.

  • High-Level Interaction: Engage directly with C-suite CFOs, Senior Accounting Leaders, and other senior stakeholders, providing a unique opportunity for professional growth and exposure.

  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly analyze product performance, gather feedback from customers and internal stakeholders, and identify areas for improvement. Drive continuous optimization of the product to enhance both user satisfaction and internal reporting capabilities.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data and analytics to inform product decisions and measure success. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of product changes on both external customers and internal teams.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Educational Background: A BS degree in a relevant field such as business, finance, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.

  • Professional Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in product management, with a strong focus on customer interaction, requirements gathering, and collaboration with internal teams.

  • Technology Knowledge: Familiarity with SSRS, ETL processes, Power BI, Power BI Paginated Reporting, and basic querying in MS SQL and Oracle is required. An understanding of how APIs work is also beneficial, especially for collaboration with our other product teams.

  • Compliance and Data Residency Knowledge: A solid understanding of compliance requirements such as SOX, PCI, ISO, and a basic understanding of data residency, particularly as they relate to financial and global reporting.

  • Financial Acumen: A solid understanding of basic financial and accounting practices, particularly as they relate to operational and HQ reporting.

  • Technical Curiosity: A willingness and ability to learn and understand the technologies used by the engineering team, facilitating better communication and collaboration.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including external customers, internal finance teams, C-suite executives, and compliance officers.

  • Customer and Internal-Centric Mindset: A deep understanding of customer needs, as well as internal organizational requirements, with a passion for delivering solutions that enhance business operations on both fronts while ensuring compliance and adherence to global data residency and cloud technology requirements.

  • Flexibility: Ability to travel as needed.
