• Product Liaison Engineer (Mattresses and Pillows)

Reporting Line

• Solid reporting line: VP, Product Development International
• Dotted reporting line: Senior Marketing Manager, China

Job Summary

• A central and important role in developing products and manage suppliers – your role is to liaise between the central International Product Management, Product Development and Sourcing teams and the selected suppliers of mattresses and pillows in mainland China.
• Your overall role is to plan, coordinate and execute product development activities at suppliers in collaboration with central teams and the suppliers teams of technical and commercial teams. From initiating first contact and plan visits at new or potential suppliers to managing the current base of suppliers in new product development projects and manage quality and engineering changes to existing products.

Main Tasks

• Manage the general supplier relationships on technical and commercial level
• Technical liaison between internal specialists within textiles, foams, covers and supplier
• Plan product development activities – prototyping, production samples, testing etc.
• Coordinate supplier product development activities according to project plan
• Participate in product development activities at supplier to control and mitigate risk
• Secure product requirements/process is balanced – process can deliver according to quality targets
• Secure product cost/quality is balanced – product delivers the quality level expected for the brand and range
• Secure technical specification/contract is in place between supplier and TSI
• Drive product changes and quality/cost project initiatives

Your approach will be both overall planning, communicating and coordinating plans and activities and hands-on on the product with measurements/testing/evaluation as well as collecting the necessary data to analyze product test and performance data.

Experience and Competencies

• Speaks and writes fluent English (level 6 or above) and Mandarin.
• Experience with project management and/or supplier relationships.
• 2- 3 years’ experience working in a Multinational Company with frequently collaboration with colleagues around the world.
• Technical background or experience within textile or furniture related production is a plus
• Has an interest in understanding product producibility and quality.
• Pro-active in terms project challenges or risks – create an overview and communicate.
• Has a structured approach - can manage multiple projects, products and suppliers.
