The Role
Join EAII as the Product Lead for our AI/ML transformation. As the Product Lead, you will own the product side of our AI agenda: leading the launch and execution of multiple AI-powered projects across our nutrition and safe water programs, and developing products that accelerate poverty reduction for millions of people.
You’ll pressure test our AI/ML ideas, scope and discover new use cases, build prototypes, and rightsize ambition – then manage external engineering partners to turn validated concepts into deployed products. You’ll spearhead 0-to-1 execution where success means people in the field are actually using and benefitting from what you built. You’ll learn by shipping in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
Scope and Prototype high-impact AI/ML products (45%)
- Drive discovery and prioritization of high-impact use cases across nutrition and safe water programs, setting realistic timelines and budgets and defining technical and non-technical success metrics.
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple concurrent ML/AI products from conception to launch, including scope definition, requirements gathering, and hands-on prototyping through proofs-of-concept and MVPs.
Manage end-to-end development and engineering partners (45%)
- Deliver ML/AI projects end-to-end by managing external engineering teams, translating validated prototypes into technical specifications and production-grade software.
- Oversee vendor/technical partner selection, contracting, and performance, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and risk mitigation.
Drive strategy and cross-functional leadership (10%)
- Partner with cross-functional program teams, data analysts, field staff, and AI Champions to design AI strategy that balances technical feasibility with organizational ambition and field constraints—positioning pilots for government adoption at scale.
- Build internal capability by enabling operations teams to sustain and scale AI products post-launch.
Requirements
Essential
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related technical field
- You have 5+ years of product or program management experience, with a comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle from inception through launch and maintenance for production-grade software
- You have proven experience in technical product management within the ML/AI software development domain
- You communicate with clarity and precision in writing and in conversation, across technical and non-technical audiences
Desirable
- You bring a deep understanding of AI/ML development, including model training, validation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing risk management in low-resource production environments
- You have hands-on experience across multiple AI domains such as computer vision, NLP/text processing, predictive analytics, or geospatial analysis
- You have a track record of working with AI/ML service providers, managing contracts, and setting clear expectations with external vendors
- You can collaborate with teammates cross-departmentally, bridging technical and non-technical teams while adhering to organizational norms and policies
- You understand government compliance requirements, data privacy regulations, and ethical AI frameworks relevant to public-sector deployments
- You are energized by working on complex projects in global contexts, coordinating across cross-cutting functions in a matrixed environment
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration, able to make educated guesses, manage expectations, and navigate senior stakeholders with discretion
- You are deeply committed to, and curious about, using technology for social good and creating measurable impact at scale

What We Do
Evidence Action is a global non-profit operating in seven countries in Africa and Asia. We were founded in 2013 to address a big gap in the fight against global poverty–many of the most promising interventions are either implemented at a very small scale, or not at all. We set out to address this gap by building programs that would scale evidence-based and cost-effective interventions, leading to significant improvements in quality of life for hundreds of millions. Our model worked. In less than a decade, our two flagship programs, the Deworm the World Initiative and Dispensers for Safe Water, have grown to measurably impact over 280 million people each year by supporting governments to deworm and through our last-mile delivery network providing safe water access. This success is achieved through the dedication and talent of our staff, the hard work of our partners, and the commitment of our supporters. Every part of our work across the lifecycle of our programs is driven by evidence. This starts with the interventions we select to invest in, and continues as we use real-time data to refine and adapt our operations, including responding rapidly and effectively to resolve challenges as they arise. Our pursuit of cost-effectiveness is driven by a recognition that when we optimize every aspect of our programs, we can reach as many people–and do as much good– as possible with each dollar. We measure value for money in terms of the number of lives we can help improve. Scale enables our massive impact. We invest in solutions for which the need is great, and leverage existing networks like schools or community organizations to grow rapidly, minimize costs, and increase efficiencies. We think big and act urgently–because poverty does not wait. By 2024, we seek to double our impact. We are strengthening and expanding our existing programs, and working to identify a new generation of evidence-based and cost-effective interventions that we can scale to reach millions more
