Description

CREATE THE FUTURE OF OUTDOOR LIVING.  BUILD WHAT LASTS.

At POLYWOOD, we design products that help families and communities connect in the great outdoors.  As a Product Engineer, you will help bring new and improved furniture designs to life by developing components and assemblies that are functional, durable, manufacturable, and aligned with our high standards for quality and sustainability.

You will collaborate closely with design, production, and cross functional teams to turn concepts into expertly engineered prototypes and production-ready solutions.  This role is hands-on, detail oriented, and grounded in craftsmanship, problem solving, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do:

 • Use CAD tools to create and modify 3D models, parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings for outdoor furniture components.
• Partner with Design, Manufacturing, and Product teams to develop prototypes and validate functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
• Apply engineering principles to ensure product performance, durability, ergonomics, cost effectiveness, and structural integrity.
• Support Engineering Change Requests and update documentation to reflect design improvements and production requirements.
• Conduct fit, function, and performance testing on prototypes and pre production builds, iterating as needed to meet standards.
• Provide clear and consistent engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, tolerances, and assembly instructions.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve technical or manufacturability challenges.
• Recommend design enhancements that improve efficiency, reduce defects, and optimize material usage.
• Support cross functional launches from concept through full production release.

What You Bring:

 • 3 to 5 years of experience in product engineering, mechanical engineering, or product development.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar tools for part modeling, assemblies, and technical drawings.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, routing, plastic fabrication, metal fabrication, and assembly workflows.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and technical documentation.
• Hands-on approach to prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Strong problem solving skills grounded in practicality and continuous improvement.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with Design, Production, and cross functional partners.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bonus Skills:

 • Experience with CAM software or CNC programming.
• Background in furniture, consumer products, outdoor goods, or other engineered components.
• Knowledge of material testing, durability assessments, and structural performance standards.
• Experience with GD&T, design for manufacturability, or lean principles.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us:

 • Valued Contribution: Your engineering work directly impacts the quality, reliability, and customer experience of our outdoor furniture.
• Growth Opportunities: Work within a vertically integrated environment where your ideas move quickly from concept to production.
• Team Environment: Join a collaborative and innovative group that values craftsmanship, problem solving, and professional growth.
