Title: Product Development Engineer

Reports to: V.P. of Engineering

Location: 4323 Interstate Way, San Antonio, TX 78219

Key Responsibilities:

Product Design and Engineering

  • Identify and create new product opportunities and designs
  • Research, plan and design mechanical and pneumatic products and systems for automatic tire inflation systems
  • Develop and assist in the creation of test procedures for new products including design concept reports, test documentation, drawings, and applicable standards
  • Analyze current products to competitive systems, and provide comparative information to support marketing efforts
  • Compare current product design to best practices for future involvement in product performance

Production and Quality Engineering

  • Assist Operations to streamline and improve production capacity
  • Assist in the design of new production and testing equipment including robotics, automation, and modern manufacturing processes
  • Assist Operations to improve maintenance procedures and identify and source production equipment and parts
  • Assist Quality Department with test procedures, ECR/ECNs, and the maintenance of applicable part and product drawings

Requirements
  • Technical – Proficiency in Solidworks 3D and 2D. Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Familiar with APQP process.
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts and experience designing mechanical systems/products.  
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles such as mechanics of materials, pneumatics, pressure sensors, solenoids. Electrical system experience a plus.
  • Validation testing including mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and climatic environments with system and vehicle-level experience
  • Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets
  • Technical Documentation, Communication, and Report Writing
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently or to lead a team to complete projects within required timeframes
  • Experience in the commercial vehicle or RV market a plus
  • Must be self-motivated and a great team worker with ability to communicate effectively and clearly
  • Position is on site at our San Antonio Headquarters and requires minimal travel

Education

  • Bachelor’s Mechanical Engineering degree required from four-year college or university; at least 3-5 years related experience and/or training

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university
  • At least 3–5 years of related experience and/or training
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D and 2D
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Familiarity with the APQP process
  • Experience designing mechanical systems or products
  • Knowledge of mechanics of materials, pneumatics, pressure sensors, and solenoids
  • Validation testing experience across mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and climatic environments
  • System-level and vehicle-level validation testing experience
  • Technical documentation, communication, and report-writing skills
  • Ability to work independently or lead a team to complete projects within required timeframes
  • Proficiency with word-processing, database, and spreadsheet software
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work onsite at the San Antonio headquarters
  • Electrical systems experience
  • Experience in the commercial vehicle or RV market
  • Must qualify as a US Person under ITAR and EAR requirements
