Lead Product Designer
The design philosophy
At Fyxer, design starts with human behaviour rather than with screens, components or flows. We think the best product decisions come from understanding why people do what they do, and working back from there. It isn't a principle we put on a wall. It's how we make decisions.
What you're walking into
We're not starting from zero. We have a creative designer on the team, a visual identity built with Red Antler, a design system, and a product that real users depend on every day.
What we don't have is a senior product design voice. Someone who gets the first call across the company when a product, experience or communication decision needs a human-behaviour lens on it.
That's this role. You'll report to our Head of Product and work as the sole designer, an early design hire, alongside our engineers. You'll be the most senior product design hire we've made, with real influence over what gets built and over how this company thinks about the people it builds for.
If you think understanding people is the hardest and most important part of design, and that everything else follows from that, this is the role for you.
What we care about, in order
01. Human behaviour first
You think in motivation, habit and friction before you think in screens. You understand why people do what they do, and you use that to make product decisions, not just design decisions.
02. Craft and execution
You ship. You work directly with engineers and move fast without losing the quality that makes a product feel premium.
03. AI-native workflows
You understand how modern engineers build with AI tools, and you think about design in that context. We care about principles, components and systems that plug into engineering workflows rather than sitting in static documentation. You're comfortable working close to implementation, and you help keep experiences coherent while teams move quickly with AI-assisted development.
What you'll be working on
Fyxer is an AI-powered productivity platform. You'll design interfaces where the AI does real work: raising something people missed, live transcription, deeply personalised drafts, complex cross-surface workflows. They need to feel effortless despite genuine complexity underneath.
A large part of this role is interaction design. We're building products with real complexity under the hood, and we care about making those experiences feel calm, intuitive and coherent across every touchpoint, such as:
A dashboard experience that makes AI feel like a natural daily habit
A real-time notetaker that generates live transcripts and captures the right context
Personalised AI draft generation that adapts to each user's communication style
Who you are
You have 5+ years designing in high-growth, early-stage environments where structure was something you built, not something you inherited.
You understand technical constraints well enough to have a real conversation with an engineer, not just hand over a Figma file.
You run your own user research. You talk to users, watch session recordings, and use what you find to defend or change your design decisions.
You move fast and use AI tools to help you. You know when to be rigorous and when to unblock someone with an MVP.
Nice to have: experience making design changes in the codebase.

Skills Required
- 5+ years of product design experience in high-growth, early-stage environments
- Experience working closely with product managers and engineers
- Strong understanding of technical constraints and implementation collaboration
- Experience designing around AI-generated outputs and AI user experiences
- Ability to conduct independent user research, including user interviews, session recordings, and surveys
- Experience with Figma, ShadCN, and Tailwind CSS
- Ability to move quickly while maintaining high-quality design execution
