Title and Summary
Product Designer (Senior Specialist)
We're looking for an experienced Product Experience designer to join Mastercard Checkout Services (MACS) Product Experience Design team.
Our mission is to make payments simpler, more efficient, and more secure. We have already built products to enable digital payment experiences at scale such as Click to Pay and Secure Card on File.
Role
You will be responsible for creating and supporting user-centered solutions that make paying by card online easier and more secure. This role requires a deep understanding of design principles, a passion for building world-class and highly scalable products, and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
Collaborative approach: You'll collaborate with other designers (Content, Product) and researchers, Product Management and Engineering to create high-quality experience. You'll be effective in leading and participating in design workshops and reviews.
Incorporating customer feedback: Participate in all phases of the research and design process from framing the right problem to solve and defining the design target all the way through to defining the vision, and future state experience to the validation of concepts, prototype or already built products.
Managing design at scale: Our work doesn't end with delivery. The role will mean contributing to the maintenance of extensive Figma libraries, reference designs and our "Gold Standard". We are sometimes called on to support large scale customer solutioning and go-to-market initiatives.

Above all, the ideal candidate will be comfortable with complexity. Our product solutions form the rails of a complex e-commerce industry; supporting card issuers (banks), online merchants, Payment Service Providers (PSPs), wallet providers and e-commerce Platforms. The payments industry has strong regulations and rigorous industry standards. There is a huge amount of regional variation and continuous innovation and change in the industry. The industry drives innovation and change that requires a consumer-centric, transparency mindset that can ensure equal access to payments for all.
The successful candidate will have:
Product experience design: You have a proven track record of leading product design initiatives; from collaborative ideation, understanding customer problems and testing solutions through research to crafting exceptional user experiences. The successful candidate will possess the necessary skills to produce high-quality, intuitive products.
Design thinking mindset: You possess a deep understanding of user experience, business objectives, and the technologies involved in creating products that a feasible, viable and desirable.
Quality driven: You have a track record of delivering high-quality work and an eye for detail.
Industry awareness: You stay informed about design best practices across multiple industries, continuously seeking inspiration and innovation.
Team player: You have a demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative and productive environment. You excel at collaboration, working seamlessly across teams to transform complex ideas into innovative and user-friendly solutions. As the bridge between different disciplines, you ensure all pieces come together to create cohesive and desirable products.
Required Experience / Knowledge / Skills (Core)
- At least 3 years' experience working as a Product Designer
- A portfolio of previous work, with an emphasis on digital product design
- Experience in interaction design across various technologies. We've a strong focus on mobile e-Commerce but we aren't limited to mobile exclusively.
- Experience in rapid prototyping using various methods
- Experience in the creation of convincing mockups and prototypes - for everything from ideation, stakeholder review or research.
- Experience leading simple product usability testing (using tools like usertesting.com) and supporting more complex research.
- Experience using Figma as their primary design tool
- Experience creating and managing Figma asset libraries
- Experience with high-quality pixel perfect delivery to technology/development teams
- Experience designing for accessibility standards (WAI WCAG 2.0 AA)
- Experience using AI - have you experimented with it, are you using it to augment your work or have you had success embedding it in your ways of working.
