Overview
The Virtual Card Management (VCM) team is part of the Commercial Transaction Management & Controls (CTMC) program within Mastercard's Commercial & New Payment Flows (CNPF) organization - making payments smarter and businesses stronger by providing faster, more secure, and more efficient commercial payment experiences globally.
VCM is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of virtual and real card management, including authorization & clearing, spend controls, gateway & token management, event notifications, and multi-scheme virtual card capabilities. Our platform powers key products such as InControl (ICCP), Business Payment Controls (BPC), VCN Gateway, and Commercial Connect API - serving issuers, corporates, fintechs, and travel intermediaries worldwide.
We are looking for a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team of engineers in designing, building, and delivering high-quality, resilient software solutions at scale. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who thrives in a fast-paced, API-driven microservices environment, is passionate about engineering excellence and operational resiliency, and is committed to growing and developing high-performing teams.

Oversee the delivery of key software projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.
Guide the analysis, design, and development of software solutions, supporting team members in translating requirements into technical deliverables.
Evaluate and review code across teams, providing constructive feedback to uphold high standards of correctness, quality, and adherence to best practices.
Support the implementation of best practices in SDLC, testing, and security, promoting operational excellence.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support architectural decisions and technical design discussions.
Participate in technology assessments, supporting the integration of new frameworks and solutions.
Implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, to ensure software quality, performance, and security in production environments.
Manage a team of individual contributors and/or technical leads, directing area processes and work to ensure alignment with functional best practices and organizational standards; conduct goal setting and performance appraisals to coach team members and support their professional development.

Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Technical Qualifications
Advanced ability in software design - defining the structure, components, and interactions of software solutions, translating requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure designs.
Advanced proficiency in software architecture - designing high-level system structures, patterns, and standards to ensure scalability, performance, security, and long-term maintainability.
Strong experience with code review practices - evaluating source code to identify potential issues, improve quality, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Proficiency in implementing comprehensive testing strategies (unit, functional, integration, and end-to-end) to validate software components and system behavior.
Familiarity with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and the ability to apply secure coding practices throughout the SDLC.
Experience with performance engineering - analyzing and optimizing systems to meet scalability and reliability requirements under varying workloads.
