Job DescriptionWood Mackenzie’s UX Research team plays a critical role in shaping the digital products that support high-stakes decision-making across the global energy sector.
We are seeking a proactive and structured UX Researcher to join our team. This is a dual-impact role combining strong research delivery with meaningful contribution to Research Operations.
You will spend most of your time designing and delivering high-quality research that informs product and commercial decisions. Alongside this, you will help strengthen how research operates across the organisation, improving documentation, processes, visibility and efficiency.
You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, Engineering and commercial stakeholders to ensure research is both impactful and scalable.
Main ResponsibilitiesWorking within our Product & Design organisation, you will partner with cross-functional teams and report into UX Research leadership.
Research Delivery (70%)
Design and execute qualitative and mixed-method research across discovery and evaluative initiatives
Conduct interviews, usability testing, concept validation and customer discovery independently
Translate complex product and business questions into structured research plans
Work confidently with both qualitative and quantitative data
Design and analyse surveys where appropriate
Triangulate quantitative findings with qualitative insight
Produce clear, actionable outputs that directly inform roadmap and commercial decisions
Present findings effectively to Product, Design and senior stakeholders
Ensure recommendations reflect both customer needs and business priorities
Research Operations Contribution (30%)
Maintain high standards of research documentation and repository quality
Improve tagging, taxonomy and insight accessibility
Contribute to refining templates and research workflows
Support participant recruitment coordination
Increase visibility of research activities and outputs across teams
Identify opportunities to improve research efficiency and scalability
Contribute to consistent and reliable research practices

Key Skills & ExperienceYou will be motivated by solving complex customer problems and strengthening how research drives decisions.
Essential Skills
3+ years of UX or User Research experience
Strong qualitative research expertise with experience running end-to-end studies independently
Comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative research methods
Experience designing and analysing surveys
Ability to synthesise complex data into clear, decision-oriented insight
Experience partnering closely with Product and Design stakeholders
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Clear and confident written and verbal communication
Preferred Skills
Experience working on B2B, data-rich or analytically complex products
Experience engaging senior stakeholders
Experience contributing to research operations or process improvements
Interest in research tooling and AI-supported workflows
Experience in energy, regulated industries or other complex sectors
