Most design system roles are maintenance jobs on a system someone else already built. This is not that. LUX is Epicor's global design system, and it is being built right now: one system serving products across React, Angular, and Blazor, consumed by designers in Figma, by developers through framework wrappers, and increasingly by AI agents that generate interfaces from the system's own rules. The decisions being made this year will define how an entire enterprise portfolio looks, behaves, and builds for the next decade.
As a Product Designer on the LUX team, you will design the components, tokens, and patterns at the center of all of that. You will work shoulder to shoulder with our UX Platform engineering team, who build every component you design, and with product designers across the portfolio who depend on your work every day. Your users are designers and developers, which means the quality bar is unforgiving and the impact of getting it right is multiplied across every product Epicor ships.
What You Will Be Doing- Design LUX components end to end: anatomy, variants, states, interaction behavior, responsive rules, and accessibility requirements
- Build and maintain the LUX Figma libraries, including component architecture, variables, tokens, and auto-layout structures that hold up under real production use
- Partner daily with UX Platform engineers to ensure design and code stay in lockstep, reviewing built components against spec and resolving gaps before they ship
- Write component documentation and usage guidance that designers actually read: when to use it, when not to, and what good looks like
- Support product designers across the portfolio as they adopt LUX, triaging contribution requests and pattern questions with clear rationale
- Uphold accessibility standards across the system, treating WCAG compliance as a design constraint from the start rather than an audit at the end
- Contribute to the system's knowledge layer so components, tokens, and patterns are legible not just to people but to the AI tools that build with them
- Stress-test patterns against the hardest cases in the portfolio: dense grids, complex forms, multi-role workflows, and configuration-heavy screens
- 2 to 5 years of product design experience, with demonstrated interest or hands-on work in design systems
- Precise, detail-obsessed craft: you notice a 1px inconsistency and it bothers you until it is fixed
- Strong Figma proficiency, including components, variants, variables, auto-layout, and library management
- A working understanding of design tokens and how they connect design decisions to code
- Comfort collaborating closely with engineers, and enough technical curiosity to understand how a web component differs from a React component
- Systems thinking: you naturally look for the rule behind the instance and design for the cases you have not seen yet
- Growing AI fluency, with curiosity about how design systems and AI-assisted development intersect
- Clear writing, because half of design system work is documentation and rationale
- Experience contributing to or helping maintain a production design system
- Familiarity with Storybook, web components, or multi-framework component libraries
- Hands-on experimentation with AI or agent-assisted tools that generate UI from system components
- Accessibility knowledge beyond the basics, including experience testing with assistive technology
- Experience in enterprise or B2B software, where the edge cases are the job
Join us at Epicor, where you will design the system that shapes work impacting thousands of businesses every day, on a team with clear career pathways from Product Designer through Senior, Principal, and beyond, where AI fluency is expected and craft still matters more than output.
