Klaviyo is a technology company that combines customer data and marketing software. We help businesses of every size - from entrepreneurs to iconic brands - deliver amazing experiences across email and other owned channels. We thrive on solving challenging problems and our mission is to empower creators to own their destiny. Please note that this is a hybrid role in Boston that requires an onsite component of 3-days per week.
About the Team:
Our Product Design team is organized into a series of product pillars, where multiple teams are contributing to the goals of a larger mission. This role sits within the Channel Infrastructure pillar that focuses on Klaviyo being the best multi-channel platform that actively guides customers to send to the right customer, at the right time, on the right channel to grow their business.
The designers in the Channel Infrastructure pillar craft products and experiences that support the building of and maintenance of Klaviyo's messaging capabilities. From the point when our customers schedule a campaign or enable a flow, the Channel infrastructure teams are responsible for how the messages are prepared for distribution, queued, processed, and sent via each possible channel (e.g. email, SMS, push, web, WhatsApp, automated conversations). This requires strong customer empathy, market knowledge, and an innate knack for simplifying the complex. As an associate product designer, you will work under the mentorship of more senior designers to design solutions that help our customers succeed.
About the Role:
Here at Klaviyo, we are proud of our user experience and make it fast, intuitive, and inspirational for our customers to send the right messages to their customers, at the right time, and on the right channel. Our team is looking for a Product Designer to partner with more senior designers to leverage our design system components and design out our production-ready design hand offs and prototypes. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to be exposed to a range of product experiences across the Channel Infrastructure pillar as you work with the designers across the team. This is an opportunity to learn from great designers, hone your design craft, and have an impact on a wide range of products. You will also be expected to utilize your full range of product design, interaction design, and visual design skills, and - individually - maintain a level of ownership and expertise of SMS and mobile platforms at Klaviyo.
How You'll Have an Impact:

  • Designing experiences that drive value for our customers under the guidance of more senior designers
  • Take broad conceptual designs and create a production ready prototype and design hand off
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers and Content Designers to oversee the user experience of a product from conception until launch (and then some)
  • Give, solicit, and take feedback from other designers, engineers, and product managers to continually raise our bar for quality
  • Understand and co-own the success metrics for product areas

What You'll Need:

  • 3+ years of experience in human-computer interaction, design, statistics, computer science, etc.
  • A portfolio of projects showcasing your design skills and ability to discuss challenges
  • Honesty about where you have opportunities to grow as a designer and willingness to learn from other designers.
  • An understanding of the end-to-end iterative UX process, including wire-framing, prototyping, user research, and design systems; you can concept, prototype, design, and present solutions that solve user and business problems, delivering measurable outcomes
  • Proven self-motivated, detail-oriented craftsperson, able to work efficiently and effectively with other designers, developers, product managers and marketers

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with SMS services to create actionable experiences for users
  • Ability to adapt to new information and an openness to change conclusions when necessary; if one approach doesn't work, you're ready to try something else
  • Experience designing with Figma
