Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Product Designer, Business Intelligence (BI) to join our Business Intelligence team in Chennai (preferred)/Pune.  

This role focuses on designing, conceptualizing, and enhancing BI products that enable data-driven decision-making across KONE. The BI Product Designer collaborates closely with product owners, users, architects, and developers to ensure BI solutions are intuitive, scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture and governance standards.

S/he actively collaborates with stakeholders inside and outside KONE IT to ensure that BI solutions deliver tangible value, meet data governance requirements, and align with KONE’s cybersecurity and architecture standards.

In addition to product design responsibilities, this role may also include hands-on development tasks in Fabric & Power BI. By combining design thinking, data modelling, and iterative solution development, the BI Product Designer ensures BI products evolve according to the product vision and roadmap while enabling informed, data-driven decision-making across KONE.

Main responsibilities 

BI Product Design & User Collaboration  

  • Analyze business and user needs, translating them into BI product concepts, functional specifications, and backlog items. 
  • Work with product owners, process owners, and key users to define requirements and acceptance criteria. 
  • Take ownership of the design and conceptualization of BI dashboards, data models, and analytical product
  • Design fit‑for‑purpose and fit‑for‑use BI solutions that consider both functional (analytics, usability, accessibility) and non‑functional (security, performance, scalability) requirements.
  • Participate in user demos, gather feedback, and incorporate insights into design improvements. 
  • Ensure usability, accessibility, and visual consistency of BI dashboards and models. 

BI Solution Development & Optimization

  • Design APPs, Reports & semantic models involving very large datasets, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and maintainability.
  • Create & maintain high quality technical design documents, including data models, logic descriptions, and architectural diagrams in Confluence & Sharepoint.  
  • Provide clarifications and support to developers, data engineers, and testers during implementation, verification, and validation
  • Identify data-quality issues early in the pipeline and escalate appropriately.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to BI data sources, model performance, and platform connectivity. 
  • Monitor & Optimize BI solutions for performance, scalability, and security. 

IT Product Operations

  • Support Operations teams in managing major incidents and other critical issues related to BI product operations.
  • Enforce governance policies, data quality practices, and architectural standards for BI solutions

Collaboration & Ways of Working

  • Actively support the Product Owner in backlog prioritization and maintaining the BI product roadmap
  • Work directly with the BI Product Owner, Lead developer, Data engineer  and business stakeholders to clarify requirements before development begins.
  • Actively participate in Scrum or Kanban workflows, ensuring work items are properly captured, documented, and updated in Jira.
  • Communicate proactively—raising blockers, risks, and design concerns early.
  • Contribute to iterative delivery, focusing on incremental value rather than large one-off deliveries.

Requirements for the role

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and morden data architectural principles.
  • Strong grasp of UX principles in BI design and delivery.
  • Hands on experience with Microsoft Power BI, Fabric, DBT and Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., GitHub).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as SQL, DAX, Python and Power Query.
  • Actively exploring and applying AI-assisted capabilities to improve productivity in BI solution development and delivery.
  • Working in virtual matrix team with outstanding emotional intelligence skills, able to motivate team, remove the impediment, build excellent collaboration and psychological safe environment, champion for teamwork 
  • Preferred Certifications: PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst, DP-600: Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer, DP-605: Develop Reports with Power BI

Skills Required
