Description

Design products that make manufacturing better around the world.

At Mate Precision Technologies, engineering is more than creating parts and assemblies—it’s solving real customer challenges with smart, practical innovation. We’re looking for an experienced Product Design Engineer III who enjoys turning ideas into manufacturable, high-performing products while collaborating across teams to bring solutions to life.

If you’re energized by product development, mechanical design, problem-solving, and seeing your ideas move from concept to production, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

At Mate, we Respect, Support, and Inspire—our customers and our employees. It’s one reason people build long-term careers here and why our teams continue to innovate together.

Requirements

In this role, you’ll research, engineer, and design standard and custom product platforms that balance customer needs with quality, manufacturability, cost, delivery, and safety requirements. You’ll analyze market and customer feedback, evaluate design feasibility, and create mechanical assemblies and components that perform in real-world manufacturing environments.

You’ll oversee assigned engineering projects from concept through implementation, working closely with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, sales, and external partners. You’ll coordinate testing and prototyping activities, evaluate product performance, and recommend design improvements to enhance functionality, quality, and cost effectiveness.

This position also plays an important role in innovation efforts, including supporting patent activities, identifying new product ideas, and helping avoid patent infringement. Success in this role requires both strong technical expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively with others across the organization.

We’re looking for someone who is curious, dependable, solutions-oriented, and excited to contribute to a team environment where ideas are welcomed and continuous improvement is part of the culture.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years of related engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience with 3D CAD systems, mechanical drafting, and GD&T
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and mechanism design
  • Familiarity with metallurgy and metallurgical processes
  • Experience solving complex engineering problems using tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
  • Experience with machining and metrology methods is a strong plus
  • Experience with U.S. and international patents is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Why do engineers stay at Mate? Because they get to do meaningful work with talented people in an environment that values innovation, teamwork, and long-term growth.

We offer:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, PTO, and paid holidays
  • 401(k) with company match and profit sharing
  • An award-winning wellness program that supports your health and work-life balance
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities
  • A collaborative, team-oriented culture where your ideas are valued
  • A clean, modern manufacturing environment where engineering and innovation work side-by-side

Mate Precision Technologies is a global leader in metalworking solutions, serving manufacturers in more than 85 countries. Since 1962, we’ve built our reputation on precision, innovation, and strong partnerships—with both our customers and our employees.
