Job DescriptionAbout Assets
Our Assets product is revolutionising how people hold money by offering the choice to retain funds as "cash" or invest in low-risk money market funds that yield returns aligned with interest rates. Wise has successfully launched this innovative investment account in the UK, Europe, Singapore, and Australia, allowing customers to earn returns while maintaining instant access to their funds.
Your Mission:
We're seeking a Product Compliance & Risk Senior Manager to be a pivotal force in the US expansion of the Assets product. Your role will involve launching new features and driving the product's growth in the US market. You will ensure Wise's compliance with US investment regulations and proactively identify and mitigate product-related risks. This is a first line Product Compliance & Risk role, embedded in the Product team.
Responsibilities will include:
Compliance of the US Assets product with applicable investment regulations in the US:
Work with product teams throughout the product lifecycle, from design and user testing to launch and post-launch monitoring of new products and new product features.
Perform pre-launch and ongoing product compliance regulatory analysis and risk assessments in relation to Wise Assets US
Support the Compliance Officer with any regulatory questions regarding the Wise Assets US product.
Advocate a risk-based approach in product development processes and controls.
Identify opportunities to enhance our product proposition and competitiveness by thoroughly analysing relevant regulations and challenging existing interpretations and market practices.
Managing and Mitigating Regulatory Risks:
Identify regulatory risks and ensure effective mitigation for Wise’s investment product in the US.
Conduct ongoing regulatory risk assessments, providing valuable advice to product managers on current and upcoming regulations, gaps, and risks.
Work with second line Compliance and Product teams to ensure that remediation plans are agreed upon and executed promptly.
Collaborate with colleagues in the second-line compliance oversight team to keep product teams informed of new and upcoming regulations.
In collaboration with second line Compliance and Risk teams, identify and align on the main regulatory issues and risks in the US. Present this in a very clear and understandable way to the wider teams, to work with them on defining the solutions and how this should be executed.
Contribute to audit management and, where required, challenge audit findings in collaboration with Compliance second line and Product teams
A bit about you
Deep working knowledge of US regulations applicable to retail investment products (FINRA broker-dealer regulations, SEC broker-dealer regulations, SIPA, etc.)
5-7 years of experience in legal or compliance roles related to retail investment.
Familiar with the evolving regulatory expectations of the SEC and FINRA with regards to retail investment products.
Problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation together with data to drive business decisions.
A natural owner who wants to go beyond an advisory role and take initiative and drive projects end to end.
Ability to effectively communicate with product managers and engineers and provide practical, actionable, and valuable recommendations.
Experience (or keen interest) in working in a fast-growing technology driven environment.
Willingness to travel quarterly, as Wise offices are globally located.
Nice to have:
You have worked in a startup or scale-up environment in the past.
Series 7, 24, or 63 registrations
You have had exposure to investment regulation in other jurisdictions in Americas (Canada, Mexico, etc)
You have an understanding of regulation of payment services and e-money (Reg-E)
Strong data analytics skills, with comfort using a BI tool such as Looker/PowerBI, and an understanding of how to interpret and monitor KRIs

Employees engage in a combination of remote and on-site work.
