Responsibilities:
- Serve as the internal advisor on US tax, payroll and accounting compliance across product teams
- Define product compliance requirements based on current and proposed federal and state legislation
- Translate statutory obligations into functional specifications and documentation for product, design and engineering
- Conduct impact assessments of regulatory updates and provide written guidance to stakeholders
- Review proposed features and contribute to roadmap planning based on identified regulatory risks or obligations
- Maintain internal documentation to support compliance interpretations, controls and audit readiness
- Advise legal, risk and GTM teams on regulatory requirements that affect customer-facing policies or product delivery
- Support product expansion, M&A assessments and cross-functional initiatives with clear compliance input
- Collaborate with regional compliance peers to maintain alignment and consistency across global product lines
Requirements:
- Current and active CPA or CA qualification from a recognized body (e.g. AICPA, CPA Canada, CA ANZ)
- 5+ years of experience in US income and sales tax, accounting or regulatory compliance in SaaS, fintech or public accounting
- Direct experience interpreting and applying federal and state-level requirements including income tax, payroll, sales tax and financial reporting
- Strong capability in documenting regulatory interpretations and communicating risk positions clearly to internal stakeholders
- Experience partnering with product or engineering teams on implementation of regulatory obligations
- Based in the US and able to work PST or MST business hours
- Experience working in or alongside product teams building tax or accounting software, such as in a tax product manager or tax systems advisor role
- Ability to translate end-user tax or accounting needs into technical requirements, and familiarity with software development lifecycles in a regulatory context
- Practical problem solver who thrives on turning complex tax rules into clear, user-friendly solutions
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and influencing product decisions
- Strong communicator who builds trust across legal, product and engineering teams
- Collaborative, curious and quick to connect the dots across multiple workstreams
