    • Work to get the best tape and sound quality from the host and guest during tapings and ensure the interview covers all the necessary points;

    • Manage post production, applying incisive editorial judgment to deliver sharp first drafts on tight deadlines;

    • Cut rough drafts of episodes in Premiere, demonstrating knowledge of the tone and pacing necessary for a compelling watching and listening experience

  • Manage the show’s production calendar

  • Work with teams across The Atlantic, including legal, art, audience, copy desk, story editors, and fact checkers to ensure the highest-quality production standards

  • Coordinate and manage all recording sessions with proper setup of lighting, audio, and camera equipment to ensure a smooth recording experience

  • Ensure consistency in visual and audio quality across all episodes

  • Collaborate with audience team to create video clips for social media

  • Upload episodes to video and audio platforms

Qualifications of the ideal candidate:

  • Proven experience working in journalism

  • Proven experience in video production and editing (preferably in podcasting)

  • Proficiency in taping and editing softwares, like Adobe Premiere Pro, and Riverside for remote podcast recording

  • Strong understanding of lighting, audio, and camera operation for high-quality video production

  • Outstanding editorial judgment, and strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Demonstrated track record of producing high-quality work on ambitious deadlines and experience finding creative solutions to editorial problems

  • Creativity to push the show and the video podcast form forward, suggesting topics and formats and working with the team to implement fresh ideas

  • Familiarity with YouTube and podcast distribution platforms

  • Motion graphics and animation experience preferred

  • Ability to  edit and enhance video content, adding graphics, transitions, and other elements to create a polished final product
