Job Description

  • Responsible for ensuring that specified materials are delivered to factories, service sites, or suppliers (as applicable) at the right time.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for order execution.
  • Responsible for:

Supplier Management

  • Ensuring timely PO placement and delivery of material with the right quality as per contractual arrangements.
  • Reviewing material requirements as per Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and procuring material as per the need date in collaboration with Sourcing and Supplier Quality.
  • Continuous engagement with suppliers to monitor On-Time Delivery (OTD) and drive improvement actions to enhance overall quality.
  • Actively participating in and leading discussions related to material crises.
  • Ensuring progress reports are received from suppliers in the correct format and on time.
  • Identifying supplier-related material delays and establishing a back-charging process for any delays in deliveries.
  • Working on dedicated OTD focus programs and performing analysis on top/worst suppliers. Collaborating with suppliers to overcome delays through agreed mitigation and corrective action plans.
  • Meeting all KPIs related to the fulfillment function.
  • Ensuring suppliers are paid on time.
  • Cross-functional coordination
  • Managing the entire order fulfillment cycle and working in tandem with Engineering, Service Shops, Process Specialists, Quality (Shop Supplier), Sourcing, and Logistics teams for timely supplies.
  • Coordinating with other functions to manage timely inspections, NCR resolution, and transportation.
  • Engaging the right people (PQ/Process Specialists, etc.) for first product development in coordination with Sourcing and SQE.
  • Establishing close collaboration with Wabtec network factories for managing exigencies and offshore suppliers.
  • Attending all daily shop/material review meetings and managing exigencies in line with shop requirements.

 

Reporting and Material Visibility

  • Providing 100% material visibility and tracking across the organization.
  • Managing material movement between different suppliers and factories and keeping track of all free-issue material.
  • Incorporating best fulfillment practices and tools (MIN-MAX Scheduling/MRP Planning, etc.) used in other factory/service shop locations and working with the broader team for rollout.
  • Leading/participating in supplier performance improvement and rating programs.

Education & Experience

  • BE/B.Tech from a reputed institute.
  • Master’s in Materials Management preferred.

Essential Skills

  • Basic commercial awareness.
  • Basic knowledge of planning and scheduling associated with production.
  • Proactive, problem-solving attitude with strong networking and communication skills.
  • Organizational skills, including prioritization and resource deployment.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge in an ERP environment (Oracle desirable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong data analytical skills.
  • Excellent communicator with strong collaboration skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings/specifications and understand manufacturing processes.
  • Language: Proficient in English.
