Responsibilities
Sourcing and Supplier Support
- Research and help identify potential suppliers, and support communication with existing vendors.
- Assist in gathering quotes and comparing supplier capabilities and pricing.
- Assist with preparing and processing purchase orders in compliance with company policies.
- Help prepare and organize contract documents for review by senior staff.
- Learn how contract terms and conditions are negotiated and reviewed against legal, safety, and environmental guidelines.
- Help track procurement spending and flag opportunities for process improvements or cost reductions.
- Support cost-saving initiatives through research and analysis as assigned.
- Assist in coordinating with inventory and supply chain teams to support timely delivery of materials and services.
- Help monitor stock levels and flag upcoming purchasing needs to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Help collect and organize information on supplier quality, delivery, and cost performance.
- Support follow-up on supplier performance issues as directed.
- Follow company policies and relevant regulations in all procurement activities.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, suppliers, and pricing data for audit and reporting purposes.
- Work with other departments (e.g., finance, operations, and legal) to understand procurement needs and support smooth execution of the procurement process.
- Learn procurement best practices and assist internal stakeholders under guidance.
- Assist with washing, rinsing, and drying laboratory glassware and labware, and restocking clean items to designated laboratory locations.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Accounting/Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Developing negotiation and strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and to take direction.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to push and pull loaded carts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move boxes and containers weighing 25 pounds or more, with assistance or equipment for heavier loads.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and climb step stools or ladders to access shelving and storage.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks involving the hands and arms, including washing glassware and loading and unloading autoclaves.
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to heat and steam from autoclaves, cold storage areas and freezers, dry ice, cleaning agents, and laboratory chemicals, with required personal protective equipment.
