ABOUT HUT 8

Imagine the ultimate destination for those who want to work at the cutting edge of technology, energy, and infrastructure. Hut 8 is on a mission to build and operate some of the world’s largest data centers for next-generation computing workloads, including AI, Colocation, Cloud, and Bitcoin Mining. We are proud to offer interesting and challenging opportunities for individuals who want to build teams, solve problems, and make an impact from day one. If you’re an ambitious individual looking for a career that is as rewarding as it is challenging, you’ve come to the right place.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Procurement Manager to lead the procurement lifecycle for our data center and infrastructure projects within our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) team. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Development, the Procurement Manager will serve as the central authority for sourcing, budgeting, and delivering critical equipment and materials, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and technical specifications. This role requires deep expertise in procuring power-intensive infrastructure components, navigating volatile supply chains, and building strong vendor relationships to support data center development.

Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:

  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Build and maintain a robust network of trusted suppliers, OEMs, and manufacturers for data center and energy infrastructure; evaluate and onboard new vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure ongoing performance and reliability.
  • Equipment and Materials Procurement: Source heavy and medium equipment (e.g., transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators) and materials (e.g., cable, conduit, SCADA systems, fiber infrastructure), ensuring timely delivery and compliance with technical specifications.
  • Strategic Sourcing Evaluation: Assess project needs, market conditions, and supplier capabilities.
  • Budgeting and Cost Management: Develop and manage procurement budgets aligned with project CapEx and OpEx plans; track spend, identify savings opportunities, and mitigate cost overruns or scope changes.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Monitor lead times, delivery schedules, and cost escalations; coordinate with project managers and construction leads to align procurement with field execution needs.
  • Process and Compliance: Implement and refine procurement policies, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements; maintain accurate documentation and workflows.
  • Execution Support: Troubleshoot supply chain issues (e.g., backorders, substitutions) in real-time to prevent construction delays; conduct site visits and supplier checks as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering to align on technical specifications, Construction to meet project timelines, and Finance to manage budgets, ensuring seamless project delivery.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, ideally in data center development, industrial infrastructure, or power generation sectors.
  • Proven success sourcing equipment for electrical infrastructure projects, including substations, switchgear, and power distribution systems.
  • Experience managing CapEx budgets and navigating volatile supply chains for high-value, long-lead-time items.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) and tools for tracking spend and lead times.
  • Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure components (e.g., transformers, UPS systems, cooling systems) and industry standards.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to justify sourcing decisions based on project goals and market data.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and organizational skills to manage vendors and multiple project scopes.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to resolving supply chain challenges.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and supplier facilities across North America.
  • Must pass a motor vehicle check.
