Job Description:
The Procurement Manager provides leadership and management of procurement with responsibilities of supporting quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and innovation with the main emphasis on cost savings through purchase price variance (PPV) & INDIRECT cost savings. This position is also involved with and supports New Product Development for Orascoptic.
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:
The Procurement Manager must be able to independently execute multiple projects to meet savings goals. Effective management and execution of supplier negotiations as it relates to on quality, delivery, service, payment terms and cost is critical to success. Succinct and comprehensive communication on progress, business impact, barriers, and results to stakeholders across multiple sites will influence success of the role and drive maximum organizational impact. Developing an intimate knowledge of products produced by Orascoptic will allow for an understanding of the cost drivers and critical custom components that create opportunities for savings as well as conditions of risk.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement function.
- Builds and actively manages a robust savings funnel of varying projects in scope and complexity.
- Identifies savings opportunities and leads cross functional teams to drive down direct (PPV) and indirect material cost.
- Reports supplier statistics and savings goal progress to key stakeholders in the business.
- Hosts supplier business reviews to monitor and improve performance across quality, delivery, inventory, innovation, cost, coverage, and responsiveness.
- Uses a total cost of ownership model, competitive quoting, and strong analytics to select the best supplier to maximize business results.
- Forecasts site Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provides inputs to the annual budget.
- Negotiates long term agreements (LTA’s) to ensure supply chain continuity and cost improvement.
- Supports the business' Margin Expansion via Procurement - assisting in identifying opportunities, negotiating pricing, RFQ’s, bid analyses, and communicating with suppliers.
- Supports New Product Development/Introduction projects as the Procurement subject matter expert, evaluating, selecting, and negotiating with new vendors in support of engineering groups.
- Partners with tactical buyers and sustaining engineers to resolve delivery and quality issues, respectively. Issues and follows up on supplier corrective action reports (SCARs) as needed.
- Utilizes Funnel Management processes and techniques to prioritize and drive savings projects.
- Manages supplier qualification and selection process to evaluate and qualify potential candidates. This can consist of RFQs, supplier process validations, first articles, and quality audits to ensure that supplier can meet the specifications and requirements needed.
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures and Master Protocols to ensure data accuracy. Uses supplier performance scorecards for quality, delivery, and cost to facilitate the alignment of capabilities to our business requirements.
- Conducts supplier risk management by reviewing sourcing restrictions, revenue impacts, supplier evaluation ratings, and supplier stability indicator scores. Uses evaluation to develop plans for high-risk parties.
- Visits major vendors to discuss issues/concerns to maintain good relationships as required. Responsible for following procedures for approval of new vendors and manages the approved supplier list, including documents required for BSI, FDA, and other internal audit support.
- Organizes and supports buying activity by assuring best price and quality for all direct material items/ commodities.
- Stays aware and informed on current commodity trends in the marketplace.
- Ensures that suppliers are adhering to developed routing guides and established corporate guidance.
- Develops tailored sourcing strategies with a high focus on risk management.
- Support to cross functional teams for New Product Development
- Follows GMP, ISO, FDA, and all regulatory requirements.
- Prepares robust instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures.
- Champions continuous improvement by using the Envista Business System (EBS) to build process muscle, accelerate project timelines and generate business results.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or other related field
- Minimum 3 years of project management of cross functional resources (PPV, INDIRECT & VAVE savings) strongly preferred
- Minimum 3 years Procurement or Supply Chain experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing/leading teams in a Project Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field.
OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Intermediate-advanced ERP procurement knowledge (Oracle preferred)
- Effective knowledge of MS Office
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets, prepare formal reports of findings and provide decision support based on data.
- Knowledge of general business procurement practices and techniques, negotiations, as well as characteristics and usage of materials or services to be procured is required.
- Demonstrated success in working with diverse cross-functional teams.
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage suppliers to support the business needs.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and can work under pressure with minimal of supervision.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Operations/Manufacturing experience, or work supporting Supply Chain
- Experience working with medical devices
- Ability to think critically and in tactical and strategic dimensions simultaneously.
- Possess clear and organized communications skills (written and verbal).
- Perseverance and consistency in pursuit of successful outcomes.
- Energetic & demonstrated leadership presence to lead and manage multi-shift teams and driving followership and influence across cross functional groups.
- Demonstrable experience developing negotiation strategies and executing to completion with leadership support
- The ability to understand and read engineering drawings and specifications related to fit, form and functionally.
- Knowledge of FDA & ISO standards
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Japanese language is a plus
TRAVEL
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%

At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
