Job Description
Job Outline:
The job holder is responsible for the delivery of the procurement plan for the business. This will be heavily influenced by the Procurement Director and/or Operations Director. Responsible for a budget spend of £40M.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
Assess, manage and mitigate risks
Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and improve margin
Collaborate with inventory control and sales to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs, maintaining those levels
Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset losses
Manage the company’s day-to-day purchasing activities and ensure that all purchasing agents are meeting their personal performance standards
Assist in developing more effective invoicing and collecting processes
Personal Specification:
As a minimum we are seeking candidates with a CIPS Level 5 who have had at least 3 years’ experience managing a procurement team.
Ideal candidates will be comfortable managing a team whilst also having responsibility for a key commodity within the procurement team.
Candidates will have a team and customer service focus, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented, and continually changing environment. Additionally full proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. With knowledge or prior training of Toyota Production System (TPS) as a desirable skill.
