POSITION OVERVIEW 

Ascend Performance Materials – Chocolate Bayou (CHB) site has implemented a Processor Internship Program. The purpose of the program is to drive long-term stability in our operations workforce which supports our key focus areas.    

 

The Processor Internship is designed to develop the critical skills necessary to become a Processor at the CHB Site.  Students participating in the program will be considered as Interns only while they work through their final year towards an Associate’s Degree in Process Technology.  Even though full-time employment is not guaranteed at the end of the Internship, consideration for full-time employment will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance during the Internship Program as well as being based on available openings. Any offers of full-time employment will be contingent on academic and job performance as well as passing all applicable pre-employment testing.   

 

Participants in the Processor Internship Program will be exposed to a safe, challenging environment in which they can attend to their own personal development while contributing to the success of Ascend Performance Materials and will constantly work under the guidance of experienced Processors. During the Processor Internship, Interns will be assigned to a specific unit. 

 

TARGETED OUTCOMES 

  • Develop the critical skills necessary to become a Processor 

  • Gain hands-on work experience in a chemical plant  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Monitoring and maintaining the day to day unit operations, coordination of daily maintenance repairs and applying tools to enhance product quality  

  • Safely operate the unit during start-ups and shutdowns, isolate and decontaminate equipment 

  • Comply with all company policies and guidelines 

  • Support the Qualified Processors on shift by making rounds, assist in taking readings, monitoring unit operations, and learn applicable ESSH procedures  

 

TEAM 

  • Reports to:  Shift Lead or Operations Supervisor 

 

Eligibility 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age  

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED 

  • Must have a current and valid United States driver license  

  • Must be currently pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Process Technology and plan to graduate by May 2026, August 2026 or December 2026.
