The Process Technologist is responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing manufacturing processes and systems to improve efficiency, quality, and performance. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including production, R&D, value engineering, engineering and quality, to ensure processes are well-designed and effectively executed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Development:
- Design and develop new manufacturing processes.
- Conduct trials and experiments to validate process parameters.
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to transition new products from development to production.
- Process Optimization:
- Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Utilize data analysis and statistical methods to optimize process performance.
- Troubleshooting:
- Investigate and resolve process-related issues that arise in production.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Support maintenance and production teams in diagnosing equipment problems.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure all processes comply with safety regulations, quality standards and good manufacturing practices.
- Give input to risk analyses in the areas of food safety, cleaning & disinfection and the inspection plan.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure process compliance and effectiveness.
- Training and Support:
- Provide training to production teams on new processes and equipment.
- Serve as a technical resource for production, offering guidance and support as needed.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the manufacturing team.
- Project Management:
- Lead and manage process improvement projects from conception to completion.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.
- Report on project progress and outcomes to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Process Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in process engineering or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of process design and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodology.
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems such as HACCP and IFS.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills (5 Whys)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Like to be on the shop floor to make a technological difference and have a passion for food.
