Chemours is seeking a Process Safety Consultant to join our growing team!
The Process Safety Consultant in Chemours will provide subject matter expertise and support for driving PSM excellence. This corporate role provides process safety functional expertise and direct assistance throughout the Company. This role is focused on development, implementation and maintenance of effective systems that assure regulatory compliance, management of PSM and achievement of performance excellence at the corporate enterprise and site operations level. This role will interact with all levels of the company, from senior leadership to shop floor employees, and will be a highly motivated, creative, conscientious individual who will bring a passion for people and safety to ensure that Chemours EHS performance is a fundamental component of business success. Approximately 25-35% of travel, including international locations, is required.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Engagement and collaboration with site EHS and PSM leadership to drive improvement in PSM performance across the company
-
Active participation in PSM networks and leadership of key initiatives to drive improved PSM performance results
-
Engagement with external organizations such as CCPS and ACC for benchmarking and leveraging of industry best practices in PSM
-
Provide technical expertise on issues, programs and processes involving compliance with standards and interpretation of PSM regulations
-
Engagement with sites to provide support on PSM requirements
-
Develop and maintain global PSM standards and best practices
-
Leading and/or participating in significant process safety incident investigations
-
Analyzing process safety incidents and trends and developing strategic goals aligned with businesses for implementation of improvement plans
-
Leading and participating in Second-Party PSM Audits
-
Provide support to sites during PSM-related regulatory audits
-
Evaluating the health of process safety management within operations and establishing programs to ensure process safety is effectively and consistently managed
-
Developing strategic vision, goals, objectives and targets for PSM performance
-
Networking and consulting with other experts on PSM best practices outside of Chemours (e.g., benchmark what we are doing, learn from industry best practices, understand industry trends, etc.)
The following is required for this role:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science related field (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
-
Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing PSM (i.e. leading PSM programs and implementing effective PSM systems) in the chemical manufacturing or refining industries – facility (single and multi-site) experience required; corporate-level experience a strong plus.

5 - 10 Years of experience in direct manufacturing or technical assistance to operations at PSM covered manufacturing facilities.

Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety regulation and EPA 40 CFR Part 68 Accident Prevention rule or similar regulations

3-5 Years of experience of demonstrated leadership skills, including a demonstrated aptitude to work with teams and motivate others

Approximately 25-35% of travel, including international locations, is required
-
Proven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with Corporate, Business, site management and field operations personnel
-
Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
-
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, team building and influencing skills
-
Proven ability to lead in a multi-function organization on a global scale
-
Demonstrated success in managing complex projects
The following skill sets are preferred:

Master’s degree in engineering or science related field

Expert knowledge of OSHA and EPA Accident Prevention regulatory requirements

Expert knowledge of CCPS, API and other industry standards related to process safety
-
CCPS Certified Process Safety Professional
-
Experience in root cause investigation techniques (ABS RCA® methodology, etc.)
-
Process Safety training certified by recognized body
-
Qualified PHA facilitator
-
Relationship building abilities with the regulatory community is desired
-
Ability to research, analyze, interpret and implement EHS regulations, standards, and best practices
-
Knowledge in PHA and LOPA hazards analysis techniques
-
Knowledge of RAGAGEP (Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practice)
