We are looking for an experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to serve as the Lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Digital HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) programs, with a strong focus on process safety, hazard identification, and digital transformation. The role will bridge traditional safety management practices—such as paper-based HAZOP studies, manual logs, and static procedures—with dynamic, technology-enabled safety systems such as real-time barrier management and digital risk monitoring.

The ideal candidate will combine strong process safety engineering expertise with an understanding of modern AI, IoT, cloud technologies, and data visualization platforms. You will ensure that digital safety tools accurately represent real-world processes, equipment, operating conditions, and safety barriers, helping organizations identify vulnerabilities and prevent major process safety incidents.

RequirementsKey Responsibilities
  • Act as the Lead Process Safety SME for digital HSE transformation initiatives, providing technical guidance on process safety requirements and digital solutions.
  • Lead, facilitate, and review HAZOP studies, ensuring hazards, causes, consequences, safeguards, and recommendations are accurately captured and maintained.
  • Translate static process safety information, including HAZOPs, operating procedures, inspection records, and manual logs, into structured digital data and workflows.
  • Support the development of dynamic barrier management systems that provide real-time visibility into the health and effectiveness of critical safety barriers.
  • Ensure digital representations of physical assets, processes, safeguards, and operating conditions accurately reflect actual plant and field conditions.
  • Identify gaps between engineering documentation and physical asset reality, escalating critical discrepancies that could contribute to major accident risks.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, reliability, HSE, IT, and digital teams to implement practical and scalable safety solutions.
  • Apply PHA methodologies, risk assessment techniques, and process safety principles to evaluate operational risks and safety-critical systems.
  • Contribute to the integration of AI, IoT, cloud platforms, analytics, and real-time data into process safety and HSE applications.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and safety performance indicators to support data-driven decision-making and management visibility.
  • Promote continuous improvement in process safety systems, digital workflows, and risk management practices.
Must-Have Skills
  • Strong expertise in Process Safety Engineering.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with HAZOP studies and PHA methodologies.
  • Experience in identifying process hazards, evaluating safeguards, and assessing major accident risks.
  • Strong understanding of process safety management principles and safety-critical barriers.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering and operational information into structured digital solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Good-to-Have Skills
  • LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) experience.
  • HAZOP Leader / Facilitator certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI and safety/process data visualization.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas operations or other high-hazard industrial environments.
  • Exposure to AI, IoT, cloud platforms, digital twins, predictive analytics, or real-time monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with digital HSE and barrier management platforms.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Formal training in PHA methodologies, with HAZOP/LOPA Leader certification preferred.
  • 6–11 years of relevant professional experience in process safety, operational risk, HSE engineering, or related industrial environments.
