McCain Potato Processing Technology Centre, located in Florenceville, NB has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer. Under the direction of the Manager R&D - Pilot Facilities, the successful applicant will become part of a high performing team that provides support for R & D projects on a global scale. This position is suited to a person with a broad skill set who is people focused and committed to the safety of his team and facility. The successful candidate must be a results-oriented team player with excellent communication skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities:

• Safety leader committed to promoting and improving the PPTC safety culture and supporting the Key Elements of Safety Program.
• Must be able to understand and abide by H.A.C.C.P. regulations concerning sanitation and critical control points.
• Customer obsessed: lead and provide best practices with respect to the integration of technical expertise and manufacturing into product development.
• Bring out the best in our people: provide character-based leadership to a high performing team.
• Act like owners: oversee Hygiene and Sanitation as well as allergen testing and control.
• Sourcing of raw materials to ensure the success of projects.
• Think big and plan ahead: provide team with direction with regards to following experimental protocols and accurate record keeping, strong accountability skills
• Actively support Food Safety Program (HACCP) by following all policies, procedures and completing required inspections
• Work closely with global connected technical team and external customers (customer-facing).
• Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
• Must have good decision-making and trouble shooting skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to record legible results.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to respond to unexpected circumstances calmly and responsibly.
• Ability to accept and embrace change in the day-to-day operations.
• Natural curiosity for surroundings and unexpected outcomes

Assets:

• Food Science experience
• Food manufacturing experience
• Statistical analysis skills
• Food safety background

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering/science, an engineering graduate with co-op or intern work experience in engineering and food manufacturing would be an asset.
• Desire to tackle new challenges; self-starter; highly motivated to achieve deadlines.
• Workplace flexibility: ability to train across multiple business functions.
• Ability to work in teams and as an individual.

The Process Engineer will

• Manage projects with the potential to open new revenue streams for the company.

o Evaluate new/novel process technologies.
o Evaluate new/novel product performance.

• Communicate with project stakeholders to define project scope requirements and deliver project results.
• Support the pilot facility and processing labs.
• Support the facility's Food Safety Program
• Support the facility's Key Elements of Safety Program
