Responsibilities

The Process Engineer improves the safety, quality, reliability, throughput, and cost performance of assigned manufacturing processes. This role serves as the technical owner for designated production lines and leads data-driven process improvements, standardization, equipment optimization, trials, and capital initiatives.

The Process Engineer establishes process controls and standard work, leads troubleshooting and improvement efforts, supports trials and scale-up activities, trains employees on new and revised processes, and communicates findings and recommendations to plant leadership. The role operates with a high degree of day-to-day independence, exercising sound judgment within established standards and seeking guidance for unfamiliar, higher-risk, or strategically significant decisions. The role delivers measurable, sustainable improvements through sound engineering analysis and disciplined execution.

You Will Have the Opportunity to Make Great Things Happen!

Manufacturing & Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain subject-matter expertise for assigned production lines and critical assets, with guidance available for unfamiliar or higher-risk technical decisions.
  • Coordinate improvement initiatives that address identified safety, quality, productivity, and manufacturing-efficiency losses within assigned processes.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain manufacturing process standards and process controls that improve operational consistency and support future growth.
  • Develop and deliver training for new and revised processes to improve employee capability, process understanding, and operating performance.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance data to confirm process stability, detect emerging trends, and identify coaching or corrective-action needs.
  • Train operations personnel on fundamental process principles, standard operating responses, and recovery procedures to build capability and promote consistent execution.
  • Build trusted working relationships with operations personnel through active listening, respectful two-way communication, and collaborative problem-solving.

Technical Engineering

  • Lead structured troubleshooting of complex process and equipment failures; identify root causes; implement permanent corrective actions; and establish response standards for recurring conditions.
  • Lead engineering evaluations that optimize equipment performance, process capability, and product consistency.
  • Develop and maintain process specifications, operating standards, control plans, and engineering documentation that improve process stability, operator consistency, and audit readiness.
  • Plan and execute the manufacturing implementation and scale-up of new products, equipment, and processes.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Research and Development, and Engineering to resolve technical issues, coordinate corrective actions, and improve plant performance.
  • Provide engineering support for product-quality investigations, identify process-related causes, and implement corrective actions that improve process capability and product consistency.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and technical partners to evaluate manufacturing technologies, document technical findings, and recommend improvements for plant application.
  • Plan and execute process trials, including design of experiments where appropriate to validate improvements before full implementation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead structured problem-solving initiatives to eliminate chronic process, equipment, and design-related losses using Lean manufacturing methods, Kaizen events, focused improvement actions, and other appropriate root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Analyze production losses, downtime, scrap, quality variation, process capability, rate performance, and cost data to identify root causes, prioritize opportunities, and present actionable recommendations to plant leadership.
  • Quantify improvement results through validated data and performance metrics, and establish control plans, monitoring, and ownership routines to sustain the gains.
  • Develop engineering recommendations that define the expected operational benefit, implementation requirements, risks, and measures of success.

Capital Projects

  • Support capital improvement projects from planning through implementation while meeting project objectives, schedules, and budgets, with appropriate guidance.
  • Contribute to the successful execution of engineering projects by developing project requests, coordinating assigned actions, and working with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Evaluate project feasibility by analyzing process data, defining operating requirements, and documenting anticipated benefits and technical risks.
