Vishay, Yankton, SD, is currently seeking a full-time Product/Process Engineer to perform engineering of specific products from design inception to finished product, including manufacturing process and controls under general direction of the Engineering Section Supervisor.
Job Location:
This position is located on-site Yankton, SD. We are situated in Southeast South Dakota: on the banks of the Missouri River and minutes from Lewis and Clark Lake where you can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational activities.
What you will be doing:
- Controls and has design, testing, and engineering production responsibility for one or several routine to moderately complex projects.
- Fabricates or directs technicians in the fabrication of prototype models for test purposes. Redesigns any components as necessary following test procedures to meet performance specifications. Supplies the drafting department with final sketches to be incorporated into the final draft form. Maintains adequate documentation to provide product history and any other pertinent information necessary for the design and production of assigned products.
- Recommends improvements, modifications, and possible new design of production equipment to immediate supervisor. Performs design of simple to moderately complex test equipment jigs, fixtures, tools, etc. Handles line check-out of new equipment. Serves in a consulting capacity with regard to trouble shooting of prototype or production equipment. Performs cost savings activities.
- Closely examines production methods, materials, and facilities, constantly seeking out areas of improvement, and initiates any necessary action with vendors and internal Vishay departments to bring about identified product improvement. Investigates production and process problems and takes necessary action to bring about practical and effective solutions.
- Regularly works with customers regarding product design, specifications, materials, and manufacturing capabilities.
- May be called upon to re-evaluate and redesign specific products for advancement beyond customer or military specification requirements.
- May be required to travel to discuss customer problems involving assigned product or to investigate product-related problems in the field.
What you will bring along:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, Metallurgical, or Chemical Engineering or its equivalent.
- Three to five years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable.
- A high level of mechanical aptitude and ability to translate design and process ideas to useable specifications is required.
- Ability to work independently to develop or manage complex projects.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and/or project leader.
- A high degree of customer service orientation.
