The Process Automation and Technology Engineer is responsible for driving the automation of key production processes in lamination and conversion operations. This role focuses on integrating advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and process monitoring systems, to enhance productivity, improve quality, and streamline material handling. Key Responsibilities

1. Product Inspection Automation

  • Develop and implement automated systems for product inspection in the lamination and conversion processes.
  • Collaborate with quality teams to ensure automated inspections meet required standards and specifications.
  • Optimize inspection systems to detect defects and deviations in real-time, reducing waste and improving quality consistency.

2. Automatic Packaging Systems

  • Design, implement, and optimize automatic packaging solutions to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Work with packaging engineers and production teams to ensure systems align with operational and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain packaging systems to minimize downtime and maximize output.

3. Artificial Intelligence for Job Packs

  • Develop and deploy AI tools to automate the creation and management of job packs, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Integrate AI solutions into production workflows, enabling seamless generation and access to job instructions.
  • Train employees to utilize AI-powered tools effectively and ensure smooth adoption of these technologies across teams.

4. Automation of Material Handling

  • Design and implement automated material handling systems to improve the efficiency and safety of production processes.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and production teams to ensure systems optimize material flow and inventory management.
  • Continuously evaluate and upgrade systems to accommodate new production demands and technologies.

5. Process Condition Monitoring

  • Develop and deploy real-time monitoring systems to track critical process conditions in lamination and conversion operations.
  • Implement predictive analytics tools to identify potential issues and ensure proactive maintenance.
  • Provide actionable insights from process data to improve machine performance and reduce downtime.

6. Employee-Automation Integration

  • Bridge the gap between automation technologies and employees by simplifying interfaces and workflows.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to upskill employees, enabling them to interact effectively with automation systems.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages employees to embrace and leverage technology in daily operations.

7. Continuous Improvement and Collaboration

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality) to identify and implement automation opportunities.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in automation and technology to ensure the organization remains competitive.

Qualifications:

Technical Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in industrial automation, process improvement, or a related role.
  • Proven experience in implementing AI, robotics, and real-time monitoring systems in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming, SCADA systems, and robotics integration.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, machine learning frameworks, and IoT platforms.
  • Experience with automated inspection systems, material handling equipment, and packaging machinery.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to present data-driven insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and recyclable packaging solutions.
  • Familiarity with quality control methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
