About the Role

The Pharmacist is responsible for performing and participates in supporting pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications. Performs other duties as assigned or required. 

POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and other support staff effectively. 
  • Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately into the clinical information system. 
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose. 
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. 
  • Attend daily clinical rounds. 
  • Provide accurate and timely medication information to patients and providers. 
  • Participate in required training programs for pharmacists. 
  • Assisting the pharmacist in charge in maintaining records of all transactions of the facility pharmacy as may be required by applicable state and federal law, and as may be necessary to maintain accurate control over and accountability for all pharmaceutical materials. 
  • Filing and labeling all containers from which drugs are to be distributed or dispensed. 
  • All other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy. 
  • Current Texas Pharmacist license in good standing. 
  • Minimum 1 year of recent pharmacist experience in a hospital setting. 
  • PGY1 Residency preferred. 
  • IV Certification preferred
