Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Technical Editor and Writer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, Florida. This position is fully onsite; remote work is not available.
The selected candidate will support the development and maintenance of technical publications for tactical and special mission aircraft, serving as a key member of the Supplier Management Team (SMT) with a primary focus on quality assurance and acceptance of supplier-developed S1000D-compliant documentation. This role involves close coordination with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to perform independent quality reviews, resolve discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of technical content delivered in support of program objectives.
Essential Functions:
Support supplier management activities related to technical documentation deliverables as an active member of the Supplier Management Team (SMT)
Manage customer interactions concerning technical publications, including resolving content and format issues with emphasis on the quality and acceptance of supplier-produced deliverables
Perform independent quality reviews of S1000D materials to ensure compliance with the S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications
Provide targeted editing and updates to technical content, as needed, in accordance with S1000D standards, IETMs, and applicable data module writing tools, rather than serving as the primary author
Utilize authoring tools such as ArborText, EAGLE, XML, or similar programs to review, validate, and update supplier-developed technical data modules
Collaborate with engineering, logistics, and product support teams and customer counterparts to perform validation and verification of documentation
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years experience; or a Master’s degree and 3 years of experience; or a PhD and 1 year of experience
Experience authoring and/or quality reviewing technical content to S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications, including IETMs and data module writing tools (e.g., ArborText, EAGLE, XML, or similar programs)
Must have an ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret within a reasonable time as determined by business needs.
Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance and any required special program access as a condition of continued employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance
Proven experience with the Eagle/EPS publishing system
Experience supporting tactical or special mission aircraft programs
Demonstrated ability to manage supplier and customer interfaces for technical publication deliverables
