The Opportunity
Allegro MicroSystems is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Systems Engineer to join our Power Integrated Circuit (PIC) product lines team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in driving product definition, ensuring robust product verification, and providing strategic technical support to our key customers. You will collaborate closely with Allegro's system, design, and test engineers, marketing, field applications teams, and industry-leading customers to define and deliver innovative power management solutions for target regulator and lighting markets.
What You Will Do
Lead the product definition process, including developing detailed specifications, defining product architectures, and creating product algorithms necessary to penetrate target regulator and lighting markets.
Provide technical leadership and contribute significantly to the Marketing team's efforts in creating and updating the Lighting products roadmap.
Oversee and perform applications-based testing in the laboratory to verify the proper performance and functionality of Allegro Power ICs under real-world conditions.
Contribute to the generation of high-quality technical documentation, including datasheets, applications reports, and reference designs, essential for securing major design wins.
Collaborate with the Product Engineering team to define and develop comprehensive final test strategies that ensure the proper operation of our power ICs in end customer applications.
Work in close partnership with Safety Engineering and Quality Engineering to devise, verify, and document key functional safety and quality elements within Power IC architectures.
Mentor, guide, and technically supervise junior and senior Systems Engineers within the team.
What You Will Need
BSEE or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
8+ years of industry experience in Power Converter Applications or Power IC Design, with experience in Automotive Lighting products.
Solid understanding of PMIC and/or Switching Regulator topologies, EMI mitigation techniques, PCB layout, bench testing, and familiarity with mixed-signal semiconductors.
Knowledge of MATLAB/SimuLink, SIMPLIS/SIMetrix, LabVIEW, and switch mode power conversion and PCB layout experience is preferred.
Electronics laboratory experience using a variety of tools and test methodologies.
Strong interpersonal and English communication skills.
Ability to make clear technical presentations both to external Allegro customers and to Allegro's Senior Management Staff.
Travel:
This position supports a globally diversified customer base and may require national and international travel.
