Job Description
Systems Design Engineer, Principal
Job Responsibilities:
• Machine Design: Designs a complete and complex framework, system or product.
• Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
• Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes.
• Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses.
• Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems.
• Develop IO maps, interlock strategies, and identify component requirements for software developers.
• Organizes and participates in design reviews of machine improvements and new designs, including FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis.
• Manages design staff (Engineers and Designers as appropriate) for engineering projects, monitoring schedules and budgets.
• Provides Subsystem design, documentation (schematics and assembly drawings), and packaging of sub-assemblies.
• Quotes engineering labor and material for marketing feasibility.
• Works with high and low vacuum equipment and the components of their design (roughing pumps, turbo pups, cryo pumps, and valving) and clean room procedures.
• Works with gas and liquid fluid handling systems: piping, valves, flow control and measurement.
• Works with Gas Handling systems (mass flow controllers and transducers) and exhaust system requirements.
• Works with Pneumatic and cooling system components and controls.
• Familiarity with National Electric Code (NEC), ISO procedures, and Lockout/Tagout requirements is a plus.
• Familiarity with SEMI S2-0200, SEMI S8-0600, and CE certification is a plus.
• General working knowledge of 3D CAD design tools. CREO and or Solid Works implemented at TMEA.
• Experience using engineering analysis tools (FEA, CFD etc) in the design process given strong consideration.
Minimum Qualifications:
• bachelor’s degree with 12 years of related experience; or master’s degree with 10 years of related experience. Degrees in Physics, mechanical, or systems engineering preferred.
• 12 + years in development of capital equipment, preferably Semiconductor wet and or vacuum process equipment.
• 25% travel
Physical Demands and Work Conditions:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 35 pounds. This position also requires 4 to 6 hours per day at a computer screen/keyboard.
