Principal System Performance Telemetry Architect
Do you want to shape the performance telemetry, profiling? Optimization architecture behind the next generation of AI infrastructure, edge platforms, and physical AI systems?
In Arm's Central Technology Group, we are seeking a highly motivated System Architect to join our diverse technology team covering all aspects of system architecture!
This role is ideal for someone deeply interested in performance optimization, profiling methodologies, and system-level analysis. The successful candidate will help define how performance data is captured, correlated, and consumed from pre-silicon modeling through silicon bring-up, debug, validation, deployment, and ongoing platform optimization. You will work closely with power architects, silicon architects, SoC architects, software teams, and tooling teams to ensure future platforms provide the right transparency for performance modeling, power-performance analysis, workload optimization, and real-world deployment debugging!
Responsibilities
  • Define the performance telemetry and profiling architecture for next-generation platforms spanning CPUs, AI accelerators, GPUs, memory systems, interconnects, I/O, networking, storage, and multi-die/chiplet systems.
  • Drive architecture guidance, platform specifications, and reference architectures for system-wide performance observability across Arm-based infrastructure, edge, and physical AI platforms.
  • Collaborate with SoC architects, IP architects, platform architects, silicon architects, power architects, and software teams to define performance telemetry requirements and ensure profiling capabilities are designed into future platforms from the outset.
  • Work closely with power architects, silicon architects, SoC architects, and performance modeling teams to define telemetry requirements that support performance modeling, power-performance optimization, and architectural tradeoff analysis.
  • Develop platform-level performance analysis strategies for heterogeneous systems, including AI infrastructure, edge AI platforms, automotive or robotics-oriented platforms, composable systems, and multi-die architectures.
  • Define how performance data from CPUs, caches, memory controllers, interconnects, accelerators, PCIe/CXL fabrics, networking interfaces, storage, and other system components can be collected, correlated, and consumed.
  • Translate customer, ecosystem, and software-tooling requirements into scalable performance telemetry architecture spanning silicon, firmware, operating systems, hypervisors, drivers, runtime software, orchestration layers, and developer tools.
  • Define standardized performance telemetry models supporting workload characterization, utilization analysis, latency and bandwidth analysis, power-performance tradeoffs, bottleneck detection, and system optimization.
  • Work with profiling and performance tools teams to ensure Arm platforms expose the right architectural hooks for effective use by tools such as Linux perf, Performance Studio, and other industry-standard analysis environments.
  • Participate in silicon bring-up, silicon debug, performance validation, and platform deployment activities by helping define the data, tools, and analysis flows needed to diagnose performance issues.
  • Collaborate with software, firmware, and tools teams to ensure profiling data can be correlated across hardware counters, traces, operating-system events, runtime behavior, and application-level workload characteristics.
  • Validated experience in system architecture, performance engineering, performance analysis, or profiling for sophisticated compute platforms.
  • Strong interest in performance optimization, workload analysis, bottleneck identification, and system-level performance tuning.
  • Understanding of heterogeneous computing systems, including CPUs, accelerators, memory systems, cache hierarchies, system interconnects, I/O, networking, storage, and multi-die/chiplet architectures.
  • Hands-on experience using profiler and performance analysis tools such as NVIDIA Nsight, Intel VTune, Linux perf, Windows Performance Analyzer, Arm Streamline, Arm Performance Studio, or similar tools.
  • Experience defining or using performance telemetry, hardware performance counters, trace mechanisms, profiling infrastructure, or system observability capabilities.
  • Familiarity with performance analysis methodologies such as workload characterization, bottleneck analysis, latency analysis, bandwidth analysis, utilization analysis, and power-performance optimization.
  • Experience collaborating with silicon architects, power architects, performance modeling teams, software teams, and platform engineers to analyze and optimize system behavior.
  • Understanding of how performance data is exposed and consumed across hardware, firmware, operating systems, virtualization layers, runtime software, and developer tooling.
  • Ability to connect profiling observations and telemetry data to architectural recommendations, power-performance tradeoffs, and deployment decisions.
  • Ability to work horizontally across multiple technology domains and connect component-level performance behavior to system-level outcomes.
  • Ability to connect profiling observations and telemetry data to architectural recommendations, power-performance tradeoffs, and deployment decisions.
  • Ability to work horizontally across multiple technology domains and connect component-level performance behavior to system-level outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated technical leadership across multidisciplinary hardware, software, architecture, and tooling teams.

Nice To Have
  • Experience with AI infrastructure platforms, distributed AI systems, edge AI platforms, robotics, automotive compute, or other physical AI systems.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as PCIe, CXL, Ethernet fabrics, RDMA, UALink, NVLink, coherent interconnects, memory pooling, and composable infrastructure.
  • Experience with cloud-scale or fleet-scale performance observability, capacity planning, workload placement, or infrastructure optimization.
  • Understanding of platform power management, thermal behavior, RAS, and how these interact with system performance.
