Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer 3/4 for the Advanced Micro-Electronics Cell (AMEC).  This position is located at our site near BWI Airport in Maryland.

The Manufacturing Project Engineer will be responsible for a product line, or group of product lines, moving through their respective areas.

Responsibilities include:

  • act as the main point of contact for all manufacturing engineering related activities for your product within the cell
  • monitor product performance, quality, delivery, and cost metrics; highlight detractors and gather resources to resolve them
  • collaborate closely with your process engineering peers as well as multiple other functional groups supporting shop floor, program office, and customer (quality engineering, manufacturing supervision, production, operations, design engineering, program management)
  • drive root cause corrective action efforts
  • identify continuous improvement opportunities; create solutions and lobby for funding
  • review and handle product on the shop floor
  • lead communications outward from the shop floor, through yield meetings, situations reports, problem resolution charts, etc.
  • gather and document efforts for non-recurring cost for initial product startup as well as support manufacturing readiness reviews
  • coordinate between non-deliverable hardware requestor and manufacturing operations/engineering

This position can be filled at either a level 3 or level 4 depending on the candidate's experience.

Basic Qualifications For Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer (level 3):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related STEM area and a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience or a minimum of 3 years with a MS degree.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing or leading projects and/or people. 
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Fluency in MS Office software applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Basic Qualification For Senior Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer (level 4):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related STEM area and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience or a minimum of 6 years with a MS degree.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing or leading projects and/or people. 
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Fluency in MS Office software applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

  • Chip and Wire manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with J-STD and MIL-STD requirements, including MIL-STD-883 & MIL-PRF-38534, J-STD-001, IPC-610.
  • Experience with Configuration Management and Manufacturing Process Planning.

    Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
