Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Principal Electrical Engineer/ Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer in support of the Sentinel program. This position is located: Roy, UT.
What You’ll Get To Do
The Command System team oversees the ground design of multiple electrical components required at different Sentinel weapon system facilities located across the nation.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
Attending internal program, and/or technical exchange meetings
Support formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
Working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Ensure appropriate coordination between electrical design and other integration teams.
Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.
Support electrical design of Command System hardware
Create interconnect diagrams in support of the Command Systems Architecture development
Review engineering deliverables such as one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect connect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis and trade studies
May perform research, trade studies, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment, and more.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints.
Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organizational, communication etc.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Engineer Electrical:
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience, or 2 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 0 years of experience with a PhD.
Sr. Principal Engineer Electrical:
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of experience, or 7 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 4 years of experience with a PhD.
Both Levels:
Experience leading people with critical deadlines and requirements.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
Experience in developing interconnect architecture/diagrams
Work across disciplines and functional groups for design uniformity.
Strong written and verbal communication for preparing technical reports, specifications, and presenting design concepts to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
4+ years of experience in creating system engineering models, interconnect diagrams, Capital electrical drawings, and one-line diagrams.
4+ years of experience with one or more of the following: requirements management/analysis/allocations including the use of DOORS or equivalent; Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDRAW; interface development experience; architecture development experience; Verification including verification method determination, RVAM development
Strong understanding of systems modeling, electrical design, and performance characteristics (e.g., voltage rating, current carrying capacity, shielding)
Familiarity with industry/Military standards and codes (IEC, NEC, NFPA, IEC 60332, IEEE 299, UL, NEC 770, ISO 9001)
Knowledgeable of IPC/WHMA-A-620.
Knowledgeable with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent.
Proficiency with CAD/ECAD tools for cable design (Siemens Capital).
Ability to read Cameo models, creating system block diagrams, creating interconnect drawings
Experience managing design revisions, change orders, and interfacing with cross functional teams.
Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.
Experience maintaining and reporting status of program activities to leadership.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
