As a Principal Software Engineer in our Banker Assisted Lending crew, you’ll help shape the engineering roadmap and create differentiated banker experiences that deliver greater value for our business customers. You’ll provide hands-on technical leadership across complex initiatives, guiding solutions from design through to production while embedding scalability, security and reliability.

Business Lending Technology enables customers to grow and invest through market-leading lending and leasing products. Our solutions are underpinned by adaptive technology, robust processes and sound risk management. We partner closely with the Business Bank to deliver innovative experiences and improve our lending and leasing platforms.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the decomposition of monolithic applications and the development of scalable microservices and event-driven solutions.

  • Set architectural direction and resolve complex technical challenges from early design through to production.

  • Translate business and technical requirements into clear engineering outcomes, reusable solutions and pragmatic delivery plans.

  • Make balanced decisions about technical debt, architecture, risk and commercial priorities.

  • Contribute directly to code, lead technical reviews, and resolve complex production issues.

  • Influence technical decisions across engineering, product and other cross-functional teams.

  • Mentor engineers, strengthen technical capability and contribute to attracting and developing engineering talent.

  • Champion AI-powered engineering practices that improve the software development lifecycle and engineering experience.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

You are a highly experienced software engineer with a track record of leading large-scale engineering initiatives and solving complex technical challenges. You combine strong architectural judgement with hands-on engineering capability and are passionate about helping teams adopt modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development.

We're looking for experience across several of the following:

  • Strong engineering expertise in one or more of C#, .NET, Go or Java.

  • Experience designing data-intensive, API-led, microservices, serverless or event-driven systems.

  • Cloud engineering experience with AWS, including serverless services and container orchestration.

  • Experience with eventing technologies such as SQS, SNS, EventBridge or Kafka.

  • Knowledge of automated delivery and infrastructure practices using technologies such as GitHub Actions and Terraform.

  • Strong understanding of observability, site reliability engineering, CI/CD, automated testing and secure-by-design engineering.

  • Experience applying AI-assisted engineering tools and practices such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Harness Engineering or specification-driven development.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence technical direction and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
