Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, we are looking for an experienced software engineering leader to join ABB's Industrial Automation Digital Organization to lead the architecture, technical vision, and engineering delivery of ABB's PKI-as-a-Service (PKIaaS) platform. The role requires deep expertise in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), cloud-native software development, cybersecurity, and distributed systems to build secure certificate lifecycle management and device identity solutions for industrial automation products.
The successful candidate will partner closely with Product Management, Software Engineering, DevOps, Quality Engineering, and Cybersecurity teams to deliver highly secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-native platforms while driving engineering excellence and technical innovation across ABB's digital portfolio.

You will be mainly accountable for- Lead the technical vision and architecture for ABB's PKI-as-a-Service platform by designing secure, scalable certificate lifecycle management, device identity, certificate enrollment (SCEP, EST, REST APIs), Trusted Platform Module (TPM), Factory Proxy, and cloud-native security solutions.
- Drive engineering excellence and cybersecurity best practices by establishing Secure SDLC, threat modeling, secure coding standards, DevSecOps, architecture governance, vulnerability management, and AI-enabled engineering practices across development and delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams including Product Management, Software Engineering, DevOps, Quality Engineering, and Cybersecurity to deliver high-quality, resilient software aligned with business priorities, customer needs, and product roadmaps.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring by guiding architecture decisions, coaching engineering teams, promoting reusable engineering practices, ensuring compliance with ABB engineering standards, cybersecurity policies, GDPR, and industry regulations while driving continuous innovation.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, cybersecurity, or platform engineering with at least 3 years in a Principal Engineer, Technical Lead, or Solution Architecture role.
- Strong expertise in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), X.509 certificates, TLS, TCP/IP, certificate lifecycle management, certificate-based authentication, public key cryptography, SCEP, EST, OpenSSL, and secure device identity (IDevID/LDevID).
- Proven experience designing secure enterprise applications using .NET Core, C#, Angular, REST APIs, Kubernetes, containers, cloud-native architectures, and microservices, with strong understanding of distributed systems.
- Extensive knowledge of Trusted Platform Module (TPM), secure boot, secure key storage, RSA key generation, encryption/decryption, digital signatures, Factory Proxy, and secure provisioning for Industrial IoT and Edge devices.
- Strong understanding of Secure SDLC, threat modeling, DevSecOps, cloud security, vulnerability management, network security, infrastructure security, and cybersecurity architecture for enterprise platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to lead architecture discussions, influence technical strategy, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate effectively with global engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related engineering discipline. Experience with IEEE 802.1AR Secure Device Identity, industrial automation environments, and certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP will be an added advantage.
