Title: Principal Software Engineer
Job Location: 1 Seneca St, Buffalo, NY 14203. Position requires in-office work four (4) days every week.
Job Description: Technical lead/individual contributor on complex projects. Provided high-level solutions and lead adoption of technologies for BSA AML, customer identity/authentication, and fraud detection. Serve as SME for business systems, managing initiatives, complex changes, compliance, and mentoring staff. Delivered solutions iteratively using Agile and Kanban methodologies. Create thorough technical and functional specifications that guide development and serve as comprehensive system documentation. Utilize software design tools to visually represent the application's architecture from multiple angles, including data flow, UML diagrams, and data models. This role involves defining and upholding the architectural vision for back-end and middle-tier systems and ensuring development teams adhere to established design patterns and coding standards. Furthermore, ensure all technical solutions and designs comply with the Bank's overall architectural strategy. Works with application product owners in defining optimum technical approaches to achieving efficient and effective systemic solutions to their application needs and improving the Bank’s technology portfolio and software development. Recommend new technology, policies or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies. Lead or participate in technical evaluations of vendor software. Develop and implement back-end architectures with a strong emphasis on scalability and high availability, leveraging various database platforms (Mongo, Mark Logic, Snowflake, Redshift, Cassandra, SQL, Oracle). Design and build ETL processes and RESTful services using expertise in MS SSIS, Azure ADF, Java, and Python, ensuring efficient data processing and system interactions. Build and manage automated application deployment processes using GitLab CI/CD, ensuring efficient and reliable releases. Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Minimum requirements: Eight (8) years of experience in the job offered or as Solution Architect, Data Architect or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical field plus six (6) years of experience in the job offered or as a Solution Architect, Data Architect or related occupation.
Requires six (6) years of experience in each of the following:
- Experience architecting and designing data intensive solutions including Enterprise Data Hub, Data Warehouses (DWH), Data Marts (DM), Master Data Management (MDM), Online
- Transaction Processing (OLTP), Operational Data Stores (ODS), and data migration initiatives.
- Developing, executing, and maintaining ETL processes using SSIS and Informatica to ensure efficient data integration and transformation.
- Creating robust data pipelines for efficient data integration across various systems.
- Designing, building, and maintaining robust REST APIs in Java, Python, or XQuery, including conducting code and design reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.
- Working within Scrum and other agile methodologies.
- Building and managing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, specifically utilizing GitLab.
- Supporting Quality Assurance (QA) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities to ensure successful system deployments.
- Preparing comprehensive implementation plans for deploying new data solutions and systems.
- Utilizing collaborative tools with JIRA, Miro and Confluence for project management, team collaboration, and documentation.
