Your Team's Impact
The Data Engineering team within Enterprise Solutions & Intelligence owns the Data Lake for all of FactSet’s internal data and empowers employees across the company to leverage that data for insights, analysis, planning, and strategic initiatives. We support company functions in Sales, Finance, Human Resources, Business Operations, and beyond.
What You'll Do
As a Principal Software Engineer on this team, you will play a significant role in architecting solutions to ingest, maintain, enhance, and expose a variety of internal data from across the company.
You will collaborate with other engineers within the team, as well as those in Data Intelligence, Platform Infrastructure, and source system data teams to engineer efficient solutions to challenging big data problems.
You will partner with stakeholders across FactSet on strategic projects that leverage our Data Lake to achieve concrete strategic outcomes.
The team is modernizing our infrastructure, shifting from SQL to Databricks and AI-based solutions, and you will be an active contributor to that endeavor. Security and SOX compliance will be integral to the design and implementation of your work.
The position is not intended as a managerial position, but is a technical leadership position, and the role is expected to lead project work and influence engineers and engineering decisions across the department
Some examples of the types of data the team works with include sales and revenue metrics, client accounts, product usage & metrics, LLM and AI usage, facilities data, financial metrics, human resources, internal software metrics, budgets, and systems & security data.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
10+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in data engineering.
Proven track record as a Lead Software Engineer or Principal Software Engineer.
Proficiency in Python and relevant data engineering libraries.
Experience with SQL & relational database use and design.
Experience with Cloud technology in particular with AWS, and EC2s in AWS.
ETL pipelines and workflow expertise.
Databricks experience is a huge plus.
Experience using AI technologies (e.g., Claude, Gemini).
Experience on collaborating and communicating with non-technical stakeholders, in particular ones in corporate functions (e.g. Finance, Sales, Executives).
Familiarity with Power BI a plus
