The Azure Data Integration team is hiring a Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead engineers building highly scalable, reliable cloud services that power data integration experiences used by organizations around the world. In this role, you will drive technical strategy, lead execution across complex engineering investments, and develop high-performing teams that deliver meaningful impact for customers.

Responsibilities
People Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence, inclusion, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Drive organizational health, talent development, career growth, and hiring efforts to build a diverse and high-performing engineering team.
  • Partner with technical leaders, product managers, and stakeholders to align engineering investments with business priorities and customer needs.
Coding
  • Develop best practices for using debugging tools, tests, logs, telemetry, and other engineering methodologies to proactively identify and prevent issues.
  • Guide teams in conducting incident retrospectives, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and preventing recurrence across products and services.
Design
  • Provide technical leadership for identifying dependencies and incorporating them into architecture and design decisions across products, services, and platforms.
  • Drive long-term technical strategy and architectural direction to support scalability, reliability, and innovation.
Engineering Excellence
  • Share and teach best practices, tools, and engineering strategies across teams.
  • Lead decision-making around engineering investments, tooling, automation, and operational excellence.
  • Champion modern engineering practices that improve developer productivity, quality, and customer outcomes.
Implementation
  • Act as an expert in deployment strategies, operational readiness, and automation to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable service delivery.
Reliability and Supportability
  • Lead teams in operating large-scale production services while following security best practices and maintaining a strong focus on service reliability, availability, and performance.
  • Support rotational on-call responsibilities and guide teams through complex live-site incidents.
Customer Focus
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to anticipate, validate, and deliver on customer requirements across multiple products and solutions.
  • Drive customer-centric decision making by leveraging data, feedback, and operational insights.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years people management experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check

Preferred/Additional Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $142,400 - CAD $257,500 per year.
