Lamina, a West Monroe Company, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer/Architect to join the Financial Services Product Team. In this role, you will collaborate with stakeholders to gather technical requirements, define platform and integration designs, and contribute to the configuration and development of innovative solutions in a team-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with key decision-makers on the Lamina team to understand their vision, gather requirements, and provide insights based on your industry experience.
- Work in a collaborative team setting to analyze existing systems, applications, and processes, helping solve complex business challenges.
- Lead the development of software solutions across full lifecycle Agile projects, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, and rollout.
- Bring creativity and a “blank slate” development mentality to designs, while aligning with client expectations.
- Design and build highly interactive and customized web front-end and back-end applications.
- Participate in all aspects of product development, including ideation, prototyping, building solutions, user testing, and integrating learnings into future iterations.
- Explore new languages, paradigms, patterns, and frameworks to continuously grow your technical expertise.
- Leverage creativity and resourcefulness to tackle unexpected challenges.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 7–11+ years of experience in full-stack software development.
- Experience in product firms or financial services is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Back-end: Proficiency in Java, JavaScript.
- Front-end: Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Database: Experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Cloud: Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- AI-Enabled Tooling: Prompt engineering for tools such as Code, Cursor, Claude, and Sonnet. Automation of written unit and integration tests.
- Experience designing and building web application user interfaces with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Proficiency with common back-end frameworks (e.g., Java) and front-end frameworks (e.g., React).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), containerization tools (e.g., Docker), and orchestration systems (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Software Development Expertise:
- Deep understanding of software engineering concepts, including requirements, development methodologies, testing, and documentation.
- Strong grasp of object-oriented design and development principles.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and comfort working in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Desire and ability to lead a team of 2–4+ software engineering consultants.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and verbal/written communication skills.
Additional Information:
- Potential for international travel on an as-needed basis.
