Develops User Interfaces (UIs) for customer digital experience using Angular, GraphQL JavaScript/ TypeScript, Node, and HTML/CSS. Develops microservices using Java EE, Apache, Spring Boot, and Maven. Monitors microservices using Datadog and Splunk. Creates and updates workflows, documentation, policies, and projects, using Confluence and JIRA. Maintains developed code using GitHub and Bitbucket repositories. Reviews and validates test plans for new features and bug releases, using Qtest. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing an application using JAVA/J2EE Platform programming skills in Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate/JPA.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing an application using JAVA/J2EE Platform programming skills in Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, and Hibernate/JPA.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated expertise (“DE”) developing web applications using JAVA Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and Web Services at an enterprise level; and using J2EE components – Servlets, JSP, JDBC, Logging mechanisms (Log4J), and Transaction Management and Thread Management. 
  • DE writing SQL/Functions/Procedures in transactional database systems – Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2; developing Services, Controllers and Repository classes using Spring MVC module; and writing and maintaining unit, functional, and integration tests to be automated in a continuous integration environment.
  • DE performing analysis, design, coding, code review and debugging with cloud-based applications; developing business components using core Java 8 concepts to implement technical enhancement following Java Standards; and designing and implementing application using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring IOC, Spring Annotations, Spring AOP, and Spring JDBC.
  • DE performing API testing using Postman application, unit testing of application using Junit, and logging using log4j; and developing backend interfaces using embedded SQL and PL/SQL; and developing RESTful web services with JAX-RS using Spring Boot.
