Position Description:
Designs and builds large, distributed systems that span multiple applications or domains. Evaluates system performance, resiliency, and security needs and develops solutions for long term stability. Shapes Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) strategies for larger application suites, including automation, security scanning, and performance checks. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates complex project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing batch services, Rest APIs and Web application frameworks using Java or J2EE, and Cloud services platforms at an enterprise level.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing batch services, Rest APIs and Web application frameworks using Java or J2EE, and Cloud services platforms at an enterprise level.

Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and building Java based platforms and web applications with Spring Batch, Spring Boot framework, Angular framework, and ORM framework including Mybatis or JPA (for database connectivity); performing cloud‑native application deployment to support a containerized, cloud‑agnostic, highly available, and scalable environment, using Azure cloud services and Docker images; and building CI/CD using DevOps tools -- GitHub, Jenkins, Udeploy, or Veracode.
- DE developing shared libraries and common frameworks using Spring Batch, Spring Boot framework, and Microservices; and applying machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts to design and implement statistical use-cases, using Python programming.
- DE automating code testing, using Cucumber Framework, Karate API Testing Framework, or Mockito libraries; and performing root-cause analysis of any issues that arise post-implementation and resolving issues by designing solutions, using Splunk, SQL Developer, and Confluence.
- DE performing project estimation and release activities (estimating and assigning) using JIRA, and change management, using ServiceNow; and preparing release and install plans, and deployments to production, using Udeploy.
