About the role

We are seeking a Principal Salesforce Developer to play a key role in the evolution of our Salesforce platform as the core system supporting Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Marketing operations across the business.

This is a senior hands-on technical leadership role responsible for designing and delivering scalable Salesforce solutions while establishing best practices for development, integration, and platform architecture.

The Principal Salesforce Developer will work closely with the Salesforce Solutions Architect, Product Owner, Administrators, and Business Analysts to ensure our Salesforce ecosystem remains robust, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

This role will take ownership of complex development initiatives, guide engineering standards, and help address technical debt while enabling the platform to support the next phase of our enterprise systems transformation.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Act as the most senior hands-on Salesforce engineer, setting development standards and guiding best practices across the team.
  • Custom Development: Build and lead the development of advanced solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Salesforce APIs.
  • Integration Architecture: Design and implement robust integrations between Salesforce and key enterprise systems such as ERP, Marketing platforms, and data systems.
  • Platform Governance: Ensure high standards of code quality, testing, documentation, and deployment through strong development lifecycle practices.
  • Technical Mentorship: Support and mentor other developers and administrators, helping raise engineering capability across the Salesforce team.
  • Platform Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, reduce technical debt, and strengthen the overall Salesforce architecture.

Essential Criteria 

  • 5+ years of experience developing on the Salesforce platform.
  • Proven experience delivering complex Salesforce implementations in enterprise environments.
  • Experience working in multi-system enterprise architectures.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in:
    • Apex
    • Lightning Web Components (LWC)
    • Salesforce APIs and integration patterns
    • Salesforce data modelling
    • Platform performance optimisation
  • Experience designing integrations using:
    • APIs
    • Middleware platforms
    • ETL tools
  • Experience defining development standards and technical patterns.
  • Ability to mentor other developers and guide engineering decisions.
  • Strong analytical thinking and debugging capabilities.
  • Ability to design scalable solutions for complex business processes.

Desirable Criteria

  • Salesforce certifications such as:
    • Platform Developer II
    • Integration Architect
    • Application Architect
  • Experience with enterprise systems such as:
    • Salesforce Marketing Cloud
    • Sage Intacct
    • Data platforms (Databricks or similar)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Gearset
  • Familiarity with modern integration platforms such as MuleSoft or Workato.
  • Experience supporting large Salesforce transformation programmes.
