Job Summary.
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Principal Power Technology Researcher located in Kallang, Singapore.
The Principal Power Technology Researcher will be accountable for the fundamental research into technologies that will form the basis for future high-power products that the company will introduce four to six years from now. The job encompasses research and prototyping of leading-edge power system technologies, proof of concept designs, design simulations, patent applications, whitepapers, scholarly articles and technology presentation materials. This job requires deep working knowledge and engagement with multiple groups on the latest available technologies, research of new inventions, and collaboration with the company's Advanced Technology teams.
What a typical day looks like:
Working under the direction of site manager or technical leader to identify new technologies which can be perfected for introduction to Flex Advanced Technology teams for conversion to working platforms within the defined requirements.
Technologies of interest include Medium Voltage AC to High Voltage DC solid state transformer systems, isolated DC-DC converter topologies with high conversion ratios of between 50:1 and 100:1, advanced power system three-phase AC input with high efficiency, high power density, harmonic control, and good EMC performance, and other solutions to fundamental problems that exist in modern datacenters.
Work across functional teams to assess whether proposed technology can meet product specification, cost target, schedule, etc.
Provide technology leadership and advise on how to solve technical problems encountered the research and prototyping phases
Design support and issue resolution during the handoff period between the Singapore Research Centre and Flex Advanced Technology Teams.
Experience we’re looking to add to our team:
Master degree in Electrical Engineering or power electronics. PdD degree is a plus
5 years’ experience for Master degree or 3 years’ experience for PhD degree in power system research or design (such as Solid State Transformer, medium-voltage rectifiers, DC-DC power modules, and high efficiency, high power-density (>15 kW) AC/DC power systems such as AIDC systems and high power EV supercharger etc.) and independent project design leadership experience. Solid State Transformer development experience is a plus.
Strong Power electronics power supply design knowledge, and deep understanding about popular topologies such as Totem-pole PFC, Vienna PFC, T-NPC, ANPC, flyback, LLC, CLLC, DAB, etc.
Familiar with engineering tools such as MatchCAD, SIMetrix, PLECS, PADs (or equivalent)
Self-motivated, passionate work, excellent teamwork
