Meet the Job
As a QA Engineer at Backbase, you’ll be part of our QA Guild, responsible for overseeing QA practices for a suite of critical tools used by our customers, partners, and colleagues. You'll play a key role in testing and validating the products that are central to Backbase, ensuring they are flawless when they go live.
Day-to-day, you’ll be hands-on with testing new features across various levels (integration, system, functional, regression, exploratory) and developing test plans. You'll lead both manual and automated testing for frontend components of Backbase.io, as well as native mobile apps. Your role also involves producing defect metrics, reporting on the QA process, and collaborating closely with stakeholders to address questions or issues related to the products. Working in an agile environment, you'll ensure that QA practices align with our agile methodologies.
- Conduct hands-on testing across multiple levels, ensuring comprehensive coverage for Retail products;
- Develop and execute detailed test plans and schedules;
- Lead automated and manual testing efforts for web and mobile applications;
- Track and report on defect metrics to drive continuous improvement;
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve questions and issues, ensuring product quality;
- Contribute to internal QA initiatives, including training and tool/process evaluation.

You’re a seasoned QA professional with a passion for both web and mobile test automation. And of course you’re excited to own QA processes within product teams and thrive in an agile environment, with a proactive mindset and strong problem-solving skills. You’re comfortable collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the highest quality in our showcase products. Therefore we’re looking for someone who:
- Has hands-on experience in web and mobile (iOS and Android) test automation (Mobile native experience is a plus);
- Is proficient in JavaScript and knowledgeable in CI/CD tools (Playwright experience is a plus);
- Balances automated and manual testing effectively and creates/maintains test plans;
- Is skilled in API testing (e.g., Postman, RestAssured) and defect management (e.g., JIRA);
- Has strong communication skills in English and experience with agile methodologies, including stakeholder collaboration.
