Position Overview: Principal Project Manager - AE
This position is responsible for leading a cross-functional, matrix team focused on delivery of services engagements and technology initiatives for external customers. You will manage project(s) from initiation through delivery, working with the account teams to close business and then having overall technical and commercial responsibility for the project(s). This position assigns, organizes and monitors work of project staff, working collaboratively with technical leads, and ensuring completion of the project(s) on schedule and within budget constraints. Good communication skills are required as there is regular interaction with customer and Cadence management involving technical and commercial status and negotiations. This is not a sales position but does require close collaboration with the Cadence Sales, Field and Services Teams.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams to ensure all deliverables are successfully executed, monitored, and controlled, consistently exceeding customer expectations.
- Create, maintain, and track comprehensive project plans, schedules, and key milestones associated with complex customer engagements.
- Drive project tasks to successful completion within established schedule and budget constraints. Define, track, and report on project health, status, and key performance metrics.
- Proactively identify potential bottlenecks, mitigate risks, and swiftly resolve critical issues before they impact delivery.
- Manage and prioritize resource allocation across diverse engineering teams to align with core project objectives.
- Foster an environment of high collaboration, mutual trust, and clear accountability among all teams supporting the customer project.
Position Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in technical project management or engineering leadership roles.
- Proven track record of driving tactical services engagements and initiatives involving specialized engineering requests (e.g., Analog, SoC, Verification, or Package/Board design).
- A strong background in IC design, SoC verification, RTL, or IP development is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex, concurrent projects under tight deadlines. PMP or equivalent project management certification is a major plus.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both executive stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Ability to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally, to support customer engagements and team collaboration.
