Flatiron Health is a healthtech company using data for good to power smarter care for every person with cancer, around the world. Flatiron partners with cancer centers in the US, Europe and Asia to transform patients' real-life experiences into real-world evidence and create a more modern, connected oncology ecosystem. Our multidisciplinary teams include oncologists, data scientists, software engineers, epidemiologists, product experts and more. Flatiron Health is an independent affiliate of the Roche Group.
What You'll Do
- Direct AI infrastructure investments and sequencing decisions with a strict product mindset, balancing enterprise risk against rapid scale by managing strategic roadmaps as governed, measurable products for all internal builders.
- Own the end-to-end agent development lifecycle - from prompt definition through deprecation - establishing clear stage gates, versioning expectations, and handoff contracts to ensure reliable, high-quality deployments across the organisation.
- Drive agentic developer experience and platform adoption by providing self-service capabilities, clear APIs, and comprehensive onboarding, reducing friction for internal builders to guarantee the consistent use of shared platform resources.
- Evaluate emerging AI models, frameworks, and third-party vendor tools, continuously navigating build-versus-buy tradeoffs to maintain a competitive, cost-effective, and future-proof platform architecture.Foster a culture of AI fluency and engineering excellence across the organisation, mentoring domain teams on best practices for interacting with the platform and accelerating their time-to-value.
- By the end of Year 1, you will have established the AI platform as the trusted paved road for builders, directly accelerating the company's speed-to-value. By balancing robust enterprise governance with a frictionless developer experience, you will have driven global adoption; making this secure, shared platform the easiest, safest, and fastest way for any domain team to build and deploy AI agents that unlock new product capabilities and drive enterprise-wide operational efficiency.
Who You Are
You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who values the opportunity to think beyond the way things are. In addition, you're a curious, business driven former engineer with 8-12 years of experience leading internal platforms, developer tools or infrastructure.
- You have a track record of owning platform outcomes across organisational boundaries, applying systems thinking across components, dependencies, and teams, while using your ability to read code to earn engineering trust without needing things explained.
- You have technical fluency across CI/CD, APIs, and observability, allowing you to reason about evaluation as infrastructure, navigate build-versus-buy tradeoffs, and spot risk early.
- You have experience treating infrastructure as a rigorous product domain, successfully managing reliability expectations, SLAs, deprecation cycles, and the operational reality of teams depending on what you ship.
- You are capable of setting strategy independently and driving airtight stakeholder alignment; ensuring milestones are owned, decisions are logged, and open questions are closed with names and dates.
- You have successfully driven platform adoption by deeply understanding what reduces friction for internal builders and actively turning feedback from consuming teams into roadmap decisions.
- You are a clear, calibrated communicator and a genuine champion for the platform, leading with curiosity to frame complex work perfectly for executives, engineers, or Security teams.
Optional
- You have experience delivering platform capabilities to globally distributed engineering teams, comfortably balancing coordination overhead, time zone tradeoffs, and cross-jurisdictional data residency.
- You have operated in health tech, regulated industries, or enterprise environments where governance frameworks (like HIPAA or GDPR) are first-class constraints that shape how data moves, where it lives, and who touches it.
- You have prior experience evolving platform capabilities across the internal-to-external boundary, knowing exactly what must be true before internal infrastructure is ready to power external products.
