The Role

Company Description

We’re looking for a seasoned Principal Product Designer to join us in London and partner with a group of teams in the FinCrime domain. You’ll be part of Wise’s global mission to build an open, fair, and human financial system. Because people without borders need money without borders.

At Wise, we’ve got a clear mission — money without borders. Built by and for people who live global lives. We’re at a genuinely exciting time when building more transparent and convenient ways to pay and get paid have never been more important in achieving that mission.

We’re looking for a seasoned Principal Product Designer to join our design team in London. You’ll be part of Wise’s global mission to build an open, fair, and human financial system.

Job Description

Your mission:

You’ll join the ‘FinCrime’ squad, a group of teams which ensure that our controls strike the right balance for our customers and our compliance requirements in an effort to prevent and detect financial crime.

As a partner to our financial crime product teams, you’ll help define our controls and support in the interpretation of global regulation to ensure our in-house built AML, Fraud, and Financial Intelligence product is best in class and customer-first.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll get to know Wise customers, building empathy and deep understanding of their challenges and needs

  • You’ll drive the design strategy and direction within the ‘FinCrime’ squad, shaping current and future work towards the group’s north star.

  • You’ll identify and drive enhancements that could improve our customer experience, unlock growth, and improve our operational processes.

  • You’ll set a high bar for design excellence. You’ll ensure outstanding product experiences, leading by example to produce high-quality work no matter how big or small the task may be.

  • You’ll use the full range of product design skills to discover, design and deliver simple, empathetic, well-crafted experiences.

  • You’ll collaborate across multiple teams and solve complex problems with cross-functional partners.

  • You’ll actively foster a healthy design culture, shaping our collaborative practices and mentoring budding designers.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Ship work you’re proud of. Craft experiences that are innovative, easy to use and clear.

  • Own your impact. You decide with product teams what opportunities to work on, and help define their success metrics.

  • Elevate product quality. You define what ‘good’ looks like for your team. And you help them deliver it.

  • Be part of a positive change in the world. We’re fixing a broken, greedy system, and putting people and businesses in control of their money.

About you:

  • You’ve got a portfolio of well-crafted, impactful work that solves real problems for real people.

  • You’re a seasoned collaborator, designing in the open, leveraging other functions’ expertise, and taking them on the journey with you.

  • You have strong interaction design skills, with a passion for high-quality fit and finish. You’ve worked with design systems to produce beautiful and functional design that scales.

  • You practise evidence-based design, and can articulate your decisions clearly and credibly.
